The collection was created by the Detroit-based designer Chris Shanck and is appropriately titled the 'ALUfoil Suite.' It is made up of a variety of items including "arm chairs, consoles, tables, vases, shelves, mirrors, cabinets and benches." While each of the items was constructed in a specific way, no two items are the same with their textured surfaces and asymmetrical designs. The foil furniture collection was created with [repurposed industrial materials](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/furniture-capsule-1) that were then covered in aluminum foil and painted with resin to keep everything in place. This unusual furniture collection works to serve as an artistic statement about the future of repurposing in design. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.1/10 - Popularity: 96% | Activity: 78% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Eco](https://www.trendhunter.com/eco) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Repurposed Design:** Exploring innovative ways to repurpose industrial materials into functional and stylish products. - **Textured Surfaces:** Embracing the use of textured surfaces and asymmetrical designs to create unique and visually appealing furniture. - **Sustainable Furniture:** Focusing on eco-friendly practices by using repurposed materials and minimizing waste in furniture production. ### Where This Applies - **Furniture Design:** Opportunity for furniture designers to incorporate repurposing techniques and unconventional materials into their creations. - **Interior Design:** Potential for interior designers to integrate textured surfaces and asymmetrical designs into their projects for a visually captivating aesthetic. - **Sustainable Manufacturing:** Scope for manufacturers to adopt eco-friendly practices by utilizing repurposed materials and minimizing waste in furniture production. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Minimalist Aluminum Furniture Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aluminum-furniture.md) - [Minimalist Upcycled Aluminum Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/truss-furniture.md) - [Wrinkled Plastic Film-Wrapped Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/paul-coenen-1.md) - [Sustainable Chrome Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cork-collection.md) - [Reused Skyscraper Furniture Capsules](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aged-form-line.md) - [Timeless Aluminum Furniture Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aluminum-furniture1.md) - [Monomaterial Aluminum Folded Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/foldseat.md) - [Tactile Aluminum Outdoor Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aluminum-outdoor-furniture.md) - [Jewelry-Inspired Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/through-chrome-reflections.md)
