# Floating Bed Designs The Fluttua Bed Balances on a Leg and Looks Like It is Hovering By Ell Smith | Published 2017-05-25 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fluttua-bed References: [contemporist](http://www.contemporist.com/single-post-makes-this-bed-appear-to-float/) & [lago.it](http://www.lago.it/en/design/fluttua-bed) With no legs visible, the Fluttua bed is designed to appear as if it's [floating slightly above the ground](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/floating-bench). Designed by Daniele Lago, the bed is engineered to remain structurally sound, [balancing on just one leg post](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/audiotechnica-hotaru) in the center of the bed. The frame of the bed attaches to the wall, creating enough stability for two people to sleep soundly on it. The bed can be adjusted to rest at different heights, making for an aesthetically pleasing, space-optimizing solution for small apartments. The avant-garde design pushes consumers to rethink the bedroom, seeing it as an opportunity to express one's personal design aesthetic, instead of deeming it a personal, closed-off area. The Fluttua bed represents a growing market for [experimental home design](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/loop-furnitures), with consumers interested in expressing themselves through their home decor. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.6/10 - Popularity: 90% | Activity: 71% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Floating Bed Designs:** The trend of floating bed designs is disrupting the bedroom furniture industry, providing a modern and aesthetically pleasing solution for small apartments. - **Avant-garde Home Design:** The trend of avant-garde home design presents disruptive innovation opportunities for the interior design industry, as consumers seek to express their personal aesthetic through unique and experimental designs. - **Space-optimizing Solutions:** The trend of space-optimizing solutions in furniture design presents disruptive innovation opportunities for the small apartment and urban living industries, catering to the needs of consumers living in limited spaces. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Bedroom Furniture:** The bedroom furniture industry can explore disruptive innovation opportunities by embracing floating bed designs, appealing to consumers looking for modern, visually appealing options. - **Interior Design:** The interior design industry can leverage the trend of avant-garde home design to offer unique and experimental concepts that cater to consumers' desire for personalized and expressive living spaces. - **Small Apartment Living:** The small apartment living industry can capitalize on space-optimizing solutions in furniture design, providing innovative products that maximize space and enhance the functionality of compact living spaces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Relaxing Dual Leg-Framed Beds](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wabi-bed.md) - [Zero-Gravity Dog Beds](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hover-dog-bed.md) - [Illusory Floating Sofa Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/air-soft-sofa.md) - [Floating Component Dining Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/floating-top-chair.md) - [Chic Curved Bed Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bedroom-furniture.md) - [Streamlined Function Bed Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/essential-bed.md) - [Japanese Design-Inspired Beds](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/thuma.md) - [Vienna Straw Headboard Beds](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shiko-wien-bed.md) - [Wooden Structural Outdoor Bedes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hut-lounge-bed.md)
