# Universal Remote Controls The FLPR Universal Remote has Over 80,000 Preprogrammed Codes By Akihiko Tse | Published 2013-09-21 | Tech Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flpr-universal-remote References: [fancy](http://fancy.com/things/452712482486622809/FLPR-Universal-Remote-Control) & [newpotatotech](http://www.newpotatotech.com/FLPR/flpr.html) If you’ve lost the remote between the deep cushions of the sofa again, fear not, the FLPR Universal Remote by New Potato Technologies for many of [Apple’s](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nomad-leather-cover-for-the-siri-remote) latest products is able to control TVs, cable and satellite boxes, CD and DVD players, blu ray players, receivers, lights and more. In total, the remote comes pre-programmed with over 80,000 remote control codes that are frequently updated to recognize new IR codes through the App Store. Once the FLPR Universal Remote, which is connected through the [iPhone’s](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/apple-tv-2021-concept) dock at the base, is inserted, simple, customizable skins with their own style of buttons control the various functions that a normal remote could. Once the preset IR codes are installed, each one can be named and personalized so as to correctly configure each function to the corresponding device. The device uses less than 1 mA, so the iPhone’s battery remains largely unaffected. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.3/10 - Popularity: 29% | Activity: 31% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, South America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Gadgets](https://www.trendhunter.com/gadgets) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Smart Home Integration:** The integration of universal remote controls with smart home devices creates opportunities for seamless control and automation of various functions. - **Customizable User Interfaces:** The trend of customizable skins and buttons on universal remote controls allows for personalized user experiences and easy navigation. - **Continuous Updates:** Frequent updates to recognize new IR codes on universal remote controls ensure compatibility with the latest devices and technologies. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Consumer Electronics:** The consumer electronics industry can leverage the trend of smart home integration to develop innovative universal remote control solutions for a connected home ecosystem. - **Home Automation:** The home automation industry can capitalize on the trend of customizable user interfaces to create user-friendly and intuitive control systems for smart homes. - **Entertainment:** The entertainment industry can benefit from continuous updates in universal remote controls to provide consumers with seamless control over various entertainment devices and services. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Universal Smart Remote Controllers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/universal-smart-remote-controller.md) - [Smart Home Controller Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/universal-remote-controller.md) - [Intuitive Touchscreen Remote Controls](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/touchsense-remote.md) - [Configurable Concave-Button Remotes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-liza-remote.md) - [Omni-Control Smart Home Remotes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/linxura-smart-home-controller.md) - [Solar-Powered Remote Controls](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/omni-remotes-model-p.md) - [T-Shaped Remote Controls](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sightless-remote-control.md) - [Tracker-Friendly Remote Control Cases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nomad-leather-cover-for-the-siri-remote.md) - [Remote-Holding Streaming Boxes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pop-art-tv-box.md)
