# Glam Gramophone Lights The Flow Lamp Emerges Elegantly Like a Flattened Trumpet Bell By Amelia Roblin | Published 2012-08-05 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flow-lamp References: [industrialdesignserved](http://www.industrialdesignserved.com/gallery/Flow-lamp/2610755) When it's switched off, the Flow Lamp might confuse you in terms of its purpose. It looks remarkably like the flaring horn of an old-fasthioned record player but its form assumes a surprising flatness and a rectangularity. Hidden inside the stretched slender neck of the [floor lamp](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bloomlight-s-lamp) is a brilliant lightbulb. The observer is afforded no indication that it exists until the fixture is in operation. A marvelous [translucent material](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/phantom-lighting) turns the seemingly opaque living room accessory into a gorgeous glowing beacon, spreading [diffuse illumination](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flat-light) until it fades within the shaft. The elegant computer-rendered concept provides no indication as to where the switch might be placed, but its gracefully broadening base takes the eyes' attention off of the electrical cord, feeding the aesthetic drama of the Flow Lamp. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.0/10 - Popularity: 11% | Activity: 11% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Translucent Lighting Fixtures:** The use of translucent materials in lighting fixtures creates opportunities for unique and innovative designs. - **Surprising Flat Designs:** Surprising flatness and rectangularity designs are gaining popularity in the world of lighting fixtures, offering opportunities for unconventional designs that can redefine the industry. - **Seamless Illumination:** Innovative lighting fixtures that are designed to seamlessly integrate into a room's decor are gaining popularity, creating opportunities for manufacturers to develop products with both form and function. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Lighting Fixture Manufacturing:** Lighting fixture manufacturers have an opportunity to create unique products using translucent materials and unconventional designs, attracting customers who appreciate unique and innovative home decor. - **Interior Design:** Interior designers can leverage surprising flat and seamless designs to create elegant and modern interiors that incorporate innovative lighting fixtures. - **Architectural Design:** Architects can incorporate unique lighting fixtures into their designs, creating a vibrant and dynamic atmosphere that compliments the intended use of the space. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Hollow Candle-Like Table Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lampe.md) - [Sculptural Glass Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tuloa.md) - [Dreamlike Bubble-Shaped Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/airshape-lamp.md) - [Archetypal Conical Light Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fragile-lamp.md) - [Multifunctional Sleek Desk Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/boring-lamp.md) - [Suspended Halo Light Fixtures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lamplox-minimalist-floor-lamp.md) - [Sleek Minimal Vertical Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mute-lamp.md) - [Hat-Like Fabric Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flying-lamp.md) - [Illusory Multidimensional Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/drop-light.md)
