The colossal artwork recently floated into Victoria Harbour in Hong Kong on its whistle stop tour of the world. The huge bath-time playmate weighs in at an incredible 46-feet tall and 55-feet long. But why you might ask? The conceptual artist states that the [whimsical rubber duck](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/forest-dancer) was created with one simple purpose in mind: to put smiles on people's faces. When asked about his creation, the artist also joked: "The Rubber Duck knows no frontiers, it doesn't discriminate people and doesn’t have a political connotation. The rubber duck is soft, friendly and suitable for all ages!" How could a cheery-looking [giant sculpture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/eye-of-the-future) like this not put a huge smile on onlookers' faces? ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.2/10 - Popularity: 50% | Activity: 39% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Artistic Installations:** The trend of creating large-scale artistic installations in public spaces provides opportunities for artists to create immersive and interactive experiences. - **Whimsical Art:** The trend of whimsical art aims to bring joy and playfulness to people's lives, creating opportunities for artists to express their creativity in unexpected ways. - **Public Engagement:** The trend of public engagement through art allows artists to connect with communities and foster a sense of unity and happiness among people of all ages. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Tourism:** The tourism industry can leverage the popularity of large artistic installations like the giant rubber duck to attract visitors and create unique experiences for tourists. - **Event Planning:** The event planning industry can incorporate large-scale art installations like the floating rubber duck to enhance the visual appeal and entertainment value of events. - **Public Art:** The public art sector can embrace the trend of whimsical and engaging installations to transform public spaces into vibrant and joyful environments for the community to enjoy. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Floating Duck Shelters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nesting-plan-vi-call-duck.md) - [Colorfully Inflatable Art Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/blowup-art-the-hague.md) - [30-Foot Tall Figurines](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/megasize-roxie.md) - [Hatching Duck Toys](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mama-duck-surprise.md) - [Oversized Baking Mascot Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pillsbury-doughboy-installation.md) - [Iconic Bag-Inspired Art Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/big-birk.md) - [Bubblegum Street Art Buildings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hubbabubbabuilding.md) - [Viral Collectible Toy Floats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/labubu-and-friends.md) - [Soup-Themed Bunny Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kidrobot-2.md)
