With an innovative yet charming approach to public furniture, Anouk Vogel and Johan Selbing introduce a romantic English style with their smooth 'Vondel Verses' design. Winner of the 2007-09 renovation competition for the Vondelpark in Amsterdam, the graceful project merges [furniture with the flora and fauna](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/imprint-collection) of the park, allowing nature to absorb the novelty of these creations. The project features magnificent motifs of [floral benches and kiosks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/blooming-furniture) as well as blossoming lamp posts with faux pigeons on their buds. The shadowy matte surfaces [fuse the traditional with the contemporary](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/leftover-bench), creating an atmosphere that one may imagine enchanted; as if the furniture is one gust of wind away from coming to life. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.7/10 - Popularity: 29% | Activity: 13% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Scenic Park Design:** Opportunity for innovative and charming approaches to designing public furniture that merges with the natural environment. - **Floral Motifs in Furniture:** Exploration of incorporating floral patterns and designs into public furniture to create a unique visual experience in parks and other outdoor spaces. - **Nature-inspired Lighting:** Opportunity to develop lamp posts and outdoor lighting fixtures that mimic elements of nature, adding a whimsical and enchanting touch to public spaces. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Landscape Architecture:** Landscape architects can explore new ways to integrate furniture into the design of parks, merging functionality with aesthetics. - **Outdoor Furniture Manufacturing:** Manufacturers of outdoor furniture can consider incorporating floral motifs and nature-inspired designs into their product lines, catering to the demand for unique and visually appealing public furniture. - **Lighting Design:** Lighting designers can innovate by creating outdoor lighting fixtures that combine practicality with artistic elements, enhancing the ambiance and visual appeal of public spaces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Sculptural Public Seating](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sculptural-public-seating.md) - [Playful Public Seating Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/playful-public-seating.md) - [Public-Oriented Furniture Exhibits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/furniture-for-public-use.md) - [Tranquil Reading Seating](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chapters-furniture.md) - [Naturalistic Public Outdoor Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/life-ark-outdoor-seat.md) - [Stone-Stacked Dynamic Fountains](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vondel-fountain.md) - [Garden-Inspired Pavilions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/demountable-pavilion.md) - [Flower-Inspired Enveloping Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flore.md) - [Living Plant DIY Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/green-hideaway.md)
