# Skeletal Branch Lamps The 'Bicho' Floor Standing Lamps Draw Inspiration from Wild Animals By Michael Hemsworth | Published 2017-02-28 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/floor-standing-lamp References: [homecrux](http://www.homecrux.com/2017/02/28/63860/dont-these-bicho-floor-standing-lamps-resemble-wild-animals.html) & [martinhopita](http://www.martinhopita.com) The 'Bicho' floor standing lamps are the design work of architect Martinho Pita and draw inspiration from [wild animals](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tiki-lamp). The word bicho translates from Portuguese to creatures, which is a fitting name for the 'Bicho' lamps that are inherently gangly and beautifully designed. Each of the 'Bicho' lamps are made from [Portuguese Holly Oak trees](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wooden-soul) and features a bare bulb that has been implemented into the top portion of the structure with the electrical cord feeding through the hollowed out branch. The 'Bicho' floor standing lamps are all created with a wild aesthetic in mind and draw inspiration from creatures such as snakes, giraffes and beyond in a subtle way. None of the 'Bicho' lamps are actually crafted to look like a particular animal, but the final product allows onlookers to let their imagination soar. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.6/10 - Popularity: 95% | Activity: 64% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Wild Creature-inspired Lamps:** Opportunity for designers to create lamps based on wild animal forms using sustainable materials. - **Bare Bulb Design:** Opportunity for designers to incorporate bare bulb design for a unique, minimalist look. - **Hollowed Out Branch Design:** Opportunity for designers to incorporate natural elements like hollowed out branches for eco-friendly lighting options. ### Where This Applies - **Lighting Industry:** Innovative designers can create unique lighting options using sustainable materials and innovative design like bare bulb or wild creature-inspired lamps. - **Interior Design Industry:** Interior designers can incorporate unique, eco-friendly lighting options like hollowed out branch lamps to add a touch of natural elements to their designs. - **Sustainable Materials Industry:** Sustainable materials industries can collaborate with designers to create unique lighting designs using eco-friendly materials like Portuguese Holly Oak trees. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Creature-Like Floor Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-pink-robots-won.md) - [Bamboo Forest-Inspired Floor Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lightbone.md) - [Spiky Palm Tree-Inspired Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ceramic-blossom.md) - [Suspended Halo Light Fixtures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lamplox-minimalist-floor-lamp.md) - [Plant-Inspired Table Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/palmetto-lamp.md) - [Tree Branch-Formed Lighting Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/celestial-attraction.md) - [Oversized Pen Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bic-lamp.md) - [Turned Wood-Inspired Lamp Capsules](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bobine.md) - [Scenic Architecture Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/architecture-inspired-table-lamp.md)
