# Illusory Shocktography Twisted Art from Robert Gligorov By TrendHead | Published 2009-01-10 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/floor-diving-photography-shock-art-by-robert-gligorov References: [urlesque](http://www.urlesque.com/2009/01/08/last-shot-indoor-swimming-pool/) & [gligorov.aeroplastics.net](http://gligorov.aeroplastics.net/) [Shocking photography](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/jeffrey-deitch-art-gallery) is artist Robert Gligorov’s specialty. He was born in 1959 in Kriva Palanca, Macedonia and now resides in Milan, Italy. Although Gligorov's work is unexpected, there is a comical aspect to his work that made me burst out in laughter when I saw the images in the gallery above. The man diving into [a splash of water](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ripples-collection) in the floor boards is just amazing. The man dipping his head in a fish tank, on the other hand, is freakishly bizarre. And the budgie as a bull's eye target is just so cruel it hurts my guts. The artist’s aim is to [ignite the imagination](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/making-the-invisible-visible) of the viewer, thereby awakening us from a state of slumber. Gligorov wishes to visually confront us and is competing with the sophisticated visual communication of the media world to shock and stun his audience. I think you can safely say that he does that convincingly. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.7/10 - Popularity: 93% | Activity: 70% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Modern](https://www.trendhunter.com/modern) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Shocking Photography:** This trend focuses on the use of visually confronting and shocking images to captivate and awaken the viewer's imagination. - **Comical Art:** This trend combines unexpected and bizarre images with a humorous twist, creating a unique and entertaining experience for the audience. - **Interactive Imagery:** This trend explores the use of interactive elements in photography, allowing viewers to engage and be a part of the artwork. ### Who This Affects Most - **Art and Entertainment:** This industry can leverage shocking photography and comical art to create innovative and memorable experiences for audiences, challenging traditional perceptions of art. - **Media and Advertising:** This industry can benefit from using visually shocking and interactive imagery to capture and retain audience attention, disrupting traditional approaches to communication and advertising. - **Digital and Social Media:** This industry can embrace shocking photography and comical art to create viral and shareable content, driving engagement and providing a unique and immersive user experience. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Lightning-Inspired Artful Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bright-light-shining.md) - [Painting-Immersive Photo Exhibits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/new-ground-exhibition.md) - [Digital Archetype Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/christian-rex-van-minnen-1.md) - [Statement Street Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/surreal-street-art-1.md) - [Blurry Abstract Photography Exhibits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/optical-allusion.md) - [Distorted Furniture Street Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/first-kiss-at-last-light.md) - [Digital Audio-Visual Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/audiovisual-exhibition.md) - [Surreal Love-Themed Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/joakim-ojanen.md) - [Apocalypse Post Pandemic Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/contemporary-urban-art.md)
