# Floating Saunas The Stylish Way to Heat Up in Norway With Casagrande & Rintala By Marissa Richards | Published 2009-09-08 | Eco Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/floating-sauna-norway References: [designspotter](http://www.designspotter.com) Casagrande & Rintala have designed a floating sauna for the Rosendahl Village in Norway. It literally floats on the water and is 100% functional. It is anchored in the middle of a fjord. When it is in use, it has semi transparent walls, to provide some privacy for the user. At night, when it is not in use, it glows like a lantern on the soft surface. Access is only allowed by rowing boat and soap is strictly prohibited due to ecological reasons. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.0/10 - Popularity: 61% | Activity: 51% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Eco](https://www.trendhunter.com/eco) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Floating Saunas:** Designing innovative floating saunas that provide a unique and luxurious experience for relaxation and wellness. - **Eco-friendly Design:** Incorporating sustainable materials and practices to create environmentally friendly sauna experiences. - **Water-based Recreation:** Exploring the potential for water-based recreational activities like floating saunas to enhance tourism and leisure industries. ### Where This Applies - **Architecture:** Architects can embrace the challenge of designing innovative and functional floating saunas, pushing the boundaries of conventional building practices. - **Wellness and Spa:** The wellness and spa industry can tap into the trend of floating saunas to provide unique and luxurious experiences for their customers. - **Tourism and Leisure:** Developing and promoting the concept of floating saunas as a unique attraction for tourists seeking memorable experiences in waterfront destinations. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Reflection-Inducing Floating Saunas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/trosten-floating-sauna.md) - [Communal Wooden Peninsula Saunas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hotspot.md) - [Shipping Container Floating Saunas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fjord-floating-sauna.md) - [Floating Travelling Saunas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/big-branzino.md) - [Modern Mobile Sauna Cabins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aquila-sauna.md) - [Coastal Bright Red Cabins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/handegrd-arkitektur.md) - [Mobile Sauna Trailers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-aquila.md) - [View-Overlooking Portable Wooden Saunas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/saunabivak.md) - [Architectural Home Saunas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-luminar.md)
