# Secluded Floating Offices The 'Black Box' is a Private Office That Hovers Over Los Angeles By Christopher Magsambol | Published 2015-09-08 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/floating-offices References: [dezeen](http://www.dezeen.com/2015/09/03/black-box-writing-studio-aaron-beubert-architects-anx-captures-iconic-los-angeles-views/) & [a-n-x](http://a-n-x.com/) The 'Black Box' is a small writing office that offers views of the Griffith Observatory, among many other Los Angeles landmarks. The compact space is nestled among trees and bushes and creates the perception of a [floating hideaway](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stealth-1). Its large window allows those in the office to take in LA's wondrous views and mountainous vistas. Architect Aaron Neubert wanted to create a "[simple, sculptural gesture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/day-job)," that hovered over the landscape. In the day, the [large front window reflects the sky](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/beaufort-bushland-retreat) but also illuminates the space at night, presenting a beautiful view to its occupants. The interior is quite simple and outlined in all-white. The furnishings utilize neutral tones with a pale-colored desk. The simple and bare interior is meant to further emphasize and point out the true visual interest in the space -- the view. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.0/10 - Popularity: 53% | Activity: 28% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Secluded Floating Offices:** The 'Black Box' concept demonstrates the growing trend of creating secluded and immersive workspace environments. - **Compact and Minimalist Architecture:** The design of the 'Black Box' showcases the trend towards compact and minimalist architectural structures for office spaces. - **Integration of Nature Into Workspaces:** The use of trees and bushes to create a floating hideaway highlights the trend of blending nature with work environments. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Architecture and Design:** The 'Black Box' presents an opportunity for architects and designers to explore innovative and visually captivating office structures. - **Real Estate:** The concept of secluded floating offices opens up opportunities for real estate developers to create unique and breathtaking workspaces. - **Technology and Sustainability:** The integration of sustainable and energy-efficient features into floating office designs offers opportunities for technology companies to provide innovative solutions. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Wooden Site Home OFfices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/moss-rock.md) - [Black-Metal Angled Holiday Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shadow-box-house.md) - [Angular Black Cantilevered Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tallowwood-cabin.md) - [Blackened Timber Tranquil Cabins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-hideaway-house.md) - [Self-Designed Tranquil Workspaces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/studio-saransh.md) - [Blackened Wooden Facade Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/centered-home.md) - [Library-Converted Modern Sheds](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-light-box-1.md) - [Farm-Inspired Office Spaces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/black-barn-1.md) - [Box-Like Innovative Apartment Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/innovative-apartment-design.md)
