# Floating Summer Homes Lake Huron Home to a Floating House by Michael Meredith of MOS Architects By Jessica Marcel | Published 2010-03-29 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/floating-house References: [dwell](http://www.dwell.com/slideshows/floating-house-lake-huron.html?slide=1&c=y&paused=true) & [dwell](http://www.dwell.com/people/raimund-koch.html?tab=photographs&c=y) MOS Architects' Michael Meredith designed this home that floats serenely on Lake Huron. The home is a [summer vacation spot](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/muskoka-lakeside-cottage) for its family, though I can't say I'd mind staying here all year. The beautiful scenery is in full view from this floating house. A floating house is a great way to fully enjoy a [lakefront property](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/usonianinspired-lake-house). The floating house features lots of natural wood surfaces and a simplified home design. **Implications** - Looking through a gallery of this house will either torture or inspire you. Personally, it's given me a concrete goal -- to one do own (...or rent) a home half as beautiful. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.3/10 - Popularity: 90% | Activity: 91% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Floating Summer Homes:** The trend of floating summer homes provides an opportunity for architectural firms to create innovative and sustainable designs for waterfront living. - **Natural Wood Surfaces:** The trend of incorporating natural wood surfaces in home designs opens up opportunities for timber and woodworking industries to provide sustainable and eco-friendly building materials. - **Simplified Home Design:** The trend of simplified home designs presents an opportunity for interior designers and home decor companies to create minimalist and functional spaces. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Architectural Firms:** Architectural firms can capitalize on the trend of floating summer homes by creating innovative and sustainable designs for waterfront living. - **Timber and Woodworking Industries:** The trend of incorporating natural wood surfaces in home designs offers opportunities for timber and woodworking industries to supply sustainable and eco-friendly building materials. - **Interior Design and Home Decor Companies:** The trend of simplified home designs provides an opportunity for interior designers and home decor companies to create minimalist and functional spaces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Modern Floating Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pura-vida-floating-home.md) - [Thoughtful Lakeside Home Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lakeside-living.md) - [Water-Surrounded Summer Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/whistling-wind-island.md) - [Recycled Plastic Floating Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mast.md) - [Waterside Retreat Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bora-boral.md) - [Floating River Cabins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/floating-river-cabin.md) - [Lakeside Thatched Holiday Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/summer-house-1.md) - [Sustainable Floating Cork Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-float-1.md) - [Angular Modern Lakeside Houses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/memphremagog-lake-residence.md)
