The hotel floats peacefully in the Maldives located in the Indian Ocean-Arabic Sea. The Dutch Dockland company is known for creating outlandish hotel designs that push the envelope in architectural design. The Greenstar is no exception with its unique [star-shaped island design](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/miami-reef-star) and floating abilities. The hotel is designed to have five points each with its own various layered green terrace levels. The stacked look of the hotel beautifully incorporates a man-made environment into a modern hotel design that sustains water and is [ecologically friendly](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/populus-hotel). While the Greenstar hotel is only a concept design, it is sure to make quite the splash in the hotel industry if it is ever fully realized. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.0/10 - Popularity: 39% | Activity: 13% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [World](https://www.trendhunter.com/world) > [Hip Hotels](https://www.trendhunter.com/hiphotels) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Eco-friendly Hotels:** The Greenstar Concept by Dutch Docklands highlights the opportunity for hotels to incorporate environmentally friendly design elements and practices to attract eco-conscious travelers. - **Unconventional Hotel Designs:** Dutch Dockland's Greenstar Concept introduces a new trend of hotel designs that incorporate unique shapes and structures to give guests a one-of-a-kind experience. - **Floating Hotels:** The Greenstar Concept by Dutch Docklands showcases the potential of floating hotels as a new trend in the hospitality industry, allowing hotels to set up in remote areas and offer a unique experience for guests. ### Who This Affects Most - **Hospitality Industry:** The Greenstar Concept by Dutch Docklands creates opportunities for hotels to differentiate themselves from competitors by offering unique and eco-friendly designs that prioritize sustainability. - **Architecture Industry:** Dutch Docklands' Greenstar Concept inspires new trends in the architecture industry for designing sustainable and visually stunning structures, pushing the boundaries of what is possible in design and innovation. - **Tourism Industry:** The Greenstar Concept by Dutch Docklands offers an opportunity for the tourism industry to attract visitors by featuring unique and environmentally conscious accommodations, allowing destinations to stand out among competitors. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Captivating Stilt-House Hotels](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mast-1.md) - [Mansion-Topped Surreal Hotels](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/marison-heler.md) - [Sky-Based Hotel Aircrafts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nuclearpowered-sky-hotel.md) - [Sci-Fi Coastal Hotel Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/epicon.md) - [3D-Printed Hotels](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/3d-printed-hotel.md) - [Floating Eco-Tourist Hotels](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/turtle-bay.md) - [Surrealist Story-Backed Hotels](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/maison-heler.md) - [Coastal Shiny Cantilevered Pods](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shebara-resort.md) - [Carbon-Positive Dynamic Hotels](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/populus-hotel.md)
