# Levitating Cube Tables The Float Table Uses Magnets to Create Its Magic By Meghan Young | Published 2010-07-30 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/float-table References: [dvice](http://dvice.com/archives/2010/07/levitating-cube.php) & [rockpaperrobot](http://rockpaperrobot.com/?p=9) Add a dash of the fantastical into your lives with the Float Table. Of course, it's not magic but magnets that make this furniture piece so intriguing. The table is made up of smaller [wooden blocks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/topographic-coffee-table) that appear to hover above each other. This is cleverly achieved through magnets. The Float Table doesn't even touch the ground! Designed by [Rock Paper Robot](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rock-capital-warsaw-office), the Float Table can act as a [coffee table](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/blur-coffee-table) or side table. Yet I would be weary of placing smaller objects on its cracked surface. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.4/10 - Popularity: 87% | Activity: 98% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Magnetic Furniture:** The emergence of furniture that uses magnetic technology presents opportunities for disruption in the furniture market. - **Fantastical Home Decor:** The trend towards incorporating magical, whimsical elements into home decor presents opportunities for creative and unique product design. - **Levitating Technology:** The development of levitation technology has the potential to impact a wide range of industries, from transportation to construction. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Furniture:** The use of magnetic technology in furniture presents opportunities for innovation and differentiation in the furniture industry. - **Home Decor:** The trend towards incorporating fantastical elements in home decor presents opportunities for unique and creative product design. - **Technology:** The development of levitation technology has the potential to disrupt a variety of industries, including transportation and construction. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Floating Decorative Desk Setups](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/levitating-cybertruck.md) - [Fabric-Like Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tablecloth-side-table.md) - [Floating Magnetic Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-mnuca-floating-lamp.md) - [Floating Component Dining Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/floating-top-chair.md) - [Shimmering Oceanic Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/liquid-table.md) - [Fluid Topographic Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dune-table.md) - [Wavy Sculptural Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sculptural-coffee-tables.md) - [Interlocking Puzzle-Like Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/connect-table.md) - [Maximalist UFO Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flying-saucer-coffee-table.md)
