It is a retro-themed seating design that has angular arms and a puffy structure. The Float is designed to invite social gatherings and conversations when in its proximity. Ellison speaks about the design of the seating, “The embrace of a bulbous, low-slung, textural centerpiece such as the Float Sofa offers a level of comfort and simplifies the human connection that has been lacking in recent years. Float embraces its role to provide both comfort and a place for connection… I was inspired to design this piece as a means of encouraging conversation, and the colors we selected were going to be a key component to help communicate this idea.” Image Credit: Design with Reach (DWR) ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 0.9/10 - Popularity: 7% | Activity: 5% | Freshness: 15% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Modular Seating:** There is an opportunity to disrupt the furniture industry by designing more modular seating options that offer both comfort and socialization. - **Retro-inspired Designs:** Incorporating retro-inspired designs into contemporary furniture can create a unique and inviting atmosphere in social spaces. - **Textural Centerpieces:** Designers can focus on creating furniture that combines comfort with interesting textures to make them the main feature of a room. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Furniture:** The furniture industry can benefit from incorporating more modular, retro-inspired and textural designs into their product lines to attract consumers who value comfort and social connections. - **Interior Design:** Interior designers can enhance the social atmosphere of a room by incorporating modular, retro-inspired and textural furniture pieces that encourage conversation and create a cozy ambiance. - **Hospitality:** Hotels, restaurants, and bars can benefit from incorporating modular, retro-inspired and textural furniture designs that create a relaxing and inviting atmosphere for guests to socialize and enjoy their surroundings. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Rounded Modular Sofa Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smooth-sofa.md) - [Modular Bulbous Lounge Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sundae-modular-lounge.md) - [Enveloping Sofa Structures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/perron-pillo.md) - [Voluptuous Texture Sofa Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bretz-balaao.md) - [Ultra-Relaxed Sofa Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/knoll-perron-pillo.md) - [Decadent Lounge Seating](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/poet-sofa.md) - [Voluptuous Modern Sofa Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/reimagined-everyday-sofa.md) - [Curvaceous Modular Sofas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/blocks-modular-sofa.md) - [Cloud-Like Modular Sofa Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pillo-sofa.md)
