Considering that it is "inspired by bubbles under water floating to the surface," as the designer describes it, I shouldn't be so surprised. I would be, however, if the this piece of furniture did suddenly start actually floating. Created by American designer Liz Boscacci, the Float Coffee Table is a stunning piece of sculptural furniture. Aside from its mesmerizing whimsical aesthetic, this concept is also unique in its functionality. Shaped and assembled by hand, this intricate piece of furniture is undeniably creative and will be a conversation-starter in any household. The Float Coffee Table is made out of turned mahogany with a glass top for an elegant and timeless look for the home. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.5/10 - Popularity: 32% | Activity: 34% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Whimsical Furniture:** There is an opportunity to create more furniture pieces like the Float Coffee Table with creative and whimsical designs. - **Handcrafted Furniture:** Handcrafted furniture made from unusual materials like the turned mahogany in the Float Coffee Table could potentially disrupt the furniture industry. - **Functional Sculptural Furniture:** The idea of functional sculptural furniture, like the Float Coffee Table, is a trend that is gaining popularity. ### Who This Affects Most - **Furniture Design:** Furniture designers can draw inspiration from the Float Coffee Table to create more innovative and creative pieces that incorporate sculpture and functionality. - **Handicraft:** There is an opportunity to explore using unique materials and handcrafted techniques, like those used in the Float Coffee Table, to create one-of-a-kind furniture pieces. - **Home Decor:** With the growing trend towards more intricate and decorative home decor pieces, furniture like the Float Coffee Table could potentially disrupt the home decor industry. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Fluid Topographic Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dune-table.md) - [Wave-Inspired Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/seahorse-coffee-table.md) - [Shimmering Oceanic Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/liquid-table.md) - [Striking Limited-Edition Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/limitededition-coffee-table.md) - [Paper-Like Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cocoon-coffee-table.md) - [Bubble-Inspired Bulbous Stools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bubble-stool.md) - [Crystalline Gem-Like Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/soda-coffee-tables.md) - [Harmonious Helical Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vortex-coffee-table.md) - [Coastline-Inspired Table Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/marea-low-table.md)
