A [versatile seat](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/icon-chair), it can not only be taller or shorter depending on what your needs are, it can also provide a more casual backrest if desired. Designed by Danilo Cvjetkovic, who was born in Serbia and now lives in Toronto, Canada, the Flip Flop Chair was created for manufacturer FDM in Norway. Boasting a [modern and minimalist design](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fold-chair), the Flip Flop Chair looks like it would fit indoor spaces as well as outdoor ones. As I look at the Flip Flop Chair, I'm not surprised that Danilo Cvjetkovic was a finalist for the International furniture design competition Design Quest in both 2010 and 2011. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.2/10 - Popularity: 15% | Activity: 12% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Changeable Seating:** The trend of changeable seating offers opportunities for innovative furniture designs that can adapt to different needs and spaces. - **Versatile Furniture:** The demand for versatile furniture pieces like the Flip Flop Chair opens up opportunities for designers to create practical and multifunctional products. - **Minimalist Design:** The growing popularity of minimalist design in furniture encourages designers to explore sleek and simple concepts like the Flip Flop Chair. ### Where This Applies - **Furniture Design:** The furniture design industry can leverage the trend of changeable seating to create innovative and adaptable products for different spaces. - **Interior Design:** Interior designers can incorporate versatile furniture pieces like the Flip Flop Chair to maximize functionality and flexibility for their clients. - **Outdoor Furniture:** The outdoor furniture industry can explore the market potential of versatile and weather-resistant designs like the Flip Flop Chair. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Modular Upholstered Bright Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flipster.md) - [Transforming Child Stool Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flipflap-childrens-chair.md) - [Naturalistic Grass-Inspired Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-flip-chair.md) - [Ultra-Simple Multifunctional Furniture Pieces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chairpf.md) - [Recycled Scissor-Like Folding Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fauld-chair.md) - [Sliding Flatpack Seating Solutions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/folio-chair.md) - [Flatpack Ultra-Modular Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nebula-chair.md) - [Legless Floor Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-bold-chair.md) - [Expanding Three-in-One Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/expandy.md)
