For anyone hopping on flights to Mexico City in the future, there's a good chance you will be impressed by the [new airport design](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gelephu-international-airport) conceived by FR-EE and [Foster and Partners](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/foster-partners5) architecture firms.

The new design takes inspiration from a plane itself, and is made up of one continuous structure. Instead of having breaks in the various areas, the roof is connected creating an X-like shape when viewed from above. As DesignBoom puts it, the "entire terminal is enclosed within a continuous lightweight grid shell, embracing walls and roof in a single, flowing form, evocative of flight." While everything is still in the process of getting underway, the ultimate goal is to have the project completed by 2018, ready for visitors.
