# Minimalist Festive Decorations These Fleet Ribbon Ornaments are Visually Interesting and Durable By Susan Keefe | Published 2011-12-11 | Special Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fleet-ribbon-ornaments References: [design-milk](http://design-milk.com/fleet-ribbon-ornament/) & [store.module-r](https://store.module-r.com/FltObjRO.html) This year avoid trimming the tree with the same old boring ornaments you favor year after year, and add these gorgeously simplistic Fleet Ribbon Ornaments to your usual rotation. Crafted by designer Zoe Garred from the studio Fleet Objects, these [skeletal baubles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/limited-edition-christmas-baubles) are made using discarded aircraft plywood. The durable material makes for unique ornaments that won't shatter if they happen to fall from the tree due to a cat-related disturbance. Each bauble is 3 inches in diameter and comes equipped with an adjustable string, so you can control the length of each ornament. Deliciously modern in their styling, the Fleet Ribbon Ornaments inject a little class into a tree otherwise adorned with ill-fated [homemade decorations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/petinspired-ornament). If the tree is too crowded, these captivating crafts can be hung elsewhere in the house for a little visual interest around every corner. Looking lavishly seasonal in their red, white and silver color scheme, these Fleet Ribbon Ornaments are a fantastic addition to any evergreen, pine or Douglas Fir. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.8/10 - Popularity: 33% | Activity: 12% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Special](https://www.trendhunter.com/special) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Minimalist Festive Decorations:** Designing festive decorations with simplified and sleek aesthetics. - **Upcycled Materials:** Utilizing discarded materials to create unique and durable ornaments. - **Customizable String Length:** Providing adjustable strings for ornaments to cater to different tree and space configurations. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Home Decor:** Incorporating minimalistic and visually striking festive decorations in home interior design. - **Sustainable Design:** Expanding the use of upcycled materials in various consumer products, including ornaments. - **Craft and Art Supplies:** Catering to the demand for customizable string lengths in ornament-making kits and supplies. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Mid-Century-Inspired Paper House Ornaments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/paper-christmas-ornament.md) - [DIY Embroidery Ornaments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/diy-stitched-ornament-kits.md) - [Biodegradable Holiday Decor](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/christmas-decor-collection.md) - [Novelty Supermarket Ornaments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aldis-novelty-baubles.md) - [Collectible EDC Christmas Ornaments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-james-brand-throwflake.md) - [Cat-Friendly Holiday Trees](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cat-friendly-holiday-tree.md) - [Customizable Holiday Decorations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/merry-sparkles-outdoor-decor.md) - [Decorative Caramel-Filled Trees](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/holiday-caramel-tree.md) - [Edible Holiday Decorations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/edible-holiday-decoration.md)
