# Educational Anatomical Rugs Flat Surgery by Mathieu Lehanneur is Maybe Not for the Dining Room By Jessica Marcel | Published 2010-03-28 | Lifestyle Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flat-surgery References: [dezeen](http://www.dezeen.com/2010/03/25/flat-surgery-by-mathieu-lehanneur/) & [carpentersworkshopgallery](http://carpentersworkshopgallery.com/index.php?lang=uk&idmenu=2b10b202) Flat Surgery is a collection of rugs that will teach you everything you didn't want to know about your digestive tract, brain, and genitalia. Artist Mathieu Lehanneur designed the rugs and even has plans for each of the Flat Surgery rugs: The digestive tract is apparently intended for the kitchen. The brain rug is supposed to be used in your office. And, finally, the genitalia rug is meant for the bedroom. Who wouldn't want to get it on after looking at an anatomically-correct floor diagram of the sex organs? ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.4/10 - Popularity: 12% | Activity: 23% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Lifestyle](https://www.trendhunter.com/lifestyle) > [Health](https://www.trendhunter.com/health) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Educational Interior Design:** Providing educational elements in interior design creates opportunity for innovative products and services. - **Anatomical Education:** Integrating anatomical education into everyday products creates new avenues for learning and understanding of the human body. - **Functional Art:** Combining art and functionality creates a unique selling point for products that appeal to both design and education. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Home Decor:** Adding educational elements to home decor products opens up opportunities for innovative designs that appeal to both form and function. - **Education:** The integration of anatomical education into products like rugs creates opportunities for educational institutions to offer unique and engaging materials for students. - **Health and Wellness:** Incorporating anatomically-correct designs in products such as yoga mats, gym flooring, and other health and wellness products can serve as visual aids for understanding the body during exercise or physical therapy. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Oil Painting-Inspired Rugs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/antonio-santn.md) - [Health Object Art Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/out-of-orifice.md) - [Floral-Inspired Home Rug Capsules](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/magical-garden.md) - [Flower-Inspired Vibrant Rugs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/espressionismo-floreale.md) - [Sexuality-Exploring Artful Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rude-arts-club.md) - [Educational Anatomy Toys](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/giant-heart-with-hidden-cells.md) - [Abstract Geometric Rugs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/discorectangle.md) - [Hand-Tufted Rug Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/floordrobe.md) - [Desert-Inspired Floor Coverings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dune-rug.md)
