# Ultra-Flat Wall-Mounted Chairs The 'Flair' Chair Stays Completely Out of the Way When Not in Use By Michael Hemsworth | Published 2020-04-14 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flair-chair References: [yankodesign](https://www.yankodesign.com/2020/04/13/meet-flair-the-flattest-most-lightweight-chair-ever-made/) & [thomasgossner](https://thomasgossner.com/) The '[Flair](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flair-classic)' chair is an expertly designed furniture piece by Thomas Gossner that transforms perceptions of how seating solutions can look and function. The chair is achieved with a polypropylene sheet that has been creased in strategic areas to allow it to open from flat to full with one swift movement. The hammock-like chair is suspended on a wall thanks to a series of rivets and hooks that allow it to be opened and put away as required with minimal interaction. The 'Flair' chair is designed with public spaces in mind to eliminate the need for traditional benches, which could help to save space on city streets while also maximizing the number of places citizens can sit throughout the day. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.2/10 - Popularity: 95% | Activity: 82% | Freshness: 9% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/furniture) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Ultra-flat Seating Solutions:** The 'Flair' chair represents a trend towards compact and space-saving seating options that can be easily stored and accessed. - **Transformative Furniture Design:** The 'Flair' chair exemplifies the trend of furniture pieces that can be easily transformed and adapted to different environments. - **Minimalist Public Seating:** The 'Flair' chair reflects a trend towards minimalist seating solutions that blend seamlessly into public spaces. ### Where This Applies - **Furniture Design:** The 'Flair' chair presents an opportunity for furniture designers to create innovative and space-saving seating solutions for various applications. - **Interior Design:** The 'Flair' chair can inspire interior designers to integrate versatile and functional seating solutions into their projects, especially in small spaces. - **Urban Planning:** The 'Flair' chair offers an opportunity for urban planners to optimize public seating options by incorporating compact and adaptable designs into city infrastructure. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Sliding Flatpack Seating Solutions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/folio-chair.md) - [Recycled Scissor-Like Folding Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fauld-chair.md) - [Naturalistic Grass-Inspired Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-flip-chair.md) - [Ultra-Minimalist Folding Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/notch-folding-chair.md) - [High-Quality Flatpack Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pagoda-chair.md) - [Adventurous Versatile Lounge Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flipster-seat.md) - [Legless Floor Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-bold-chair.md) - [Hollow Multipurpose Armchairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tailor-armchair.md) - [Industrial Flatpack Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tekron-folding-chair.md)
