# Park-Inspired Workstations Draw Your Focus Away from Work with This Fantastic Fish Tank Desk By Amelia Roblin | Published 2015-01-07 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fish-tank-desk References: [dornob](http://dornob.com/anti-work-desk-uses-nature-to-encourage-disconnection/) & [maximemellot.fr](http://maximemellot.fr/?p=156) When Maxime Mellot designed this fish tank desk, his goal was actually not to make it conducive to getting things done -- at least, not in the standard sense of productive work. The completely endearing Túria Table doesn't accommodate the typical functional tasks of the home or office, be they writing, computing, eating or preparing food. Instead, this fetching piece of furniture is intended to give a person [respite](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lazy-concept), like visiting his or her own natural retreat indoors. The name of the piece comes from a park in Valencia, Spain, and its features in common become immediately obvious. The fish bowl, the [plant](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/plantable-office) and the birdcage become microcosms of a pond, a garden the sky, respectively. Sit down and contemplate at this fish tank desk, and certainly don't work yourself too hard. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.3/10 - Popularity: 79% | Activity: 71% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Nature-inspired Furniture:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Design furniture that brings elements of nature indoors, providing a calming and restorative environment for individuals. - **Work-life Balance Products:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop products that encourage relaxation, reflection, and personal enjoyment, blurring the boundaries between work and leisure. - **Indoor Retreat Spaces:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Create indoor spaces that mimic the soothing and rejuvenating effects of being in nature, allowing individuals to escape from the stress of work. ### Where This Applies - **Furniture Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Explore unconventional designs that integrate nature-inspired elements, creating unique and immersive furniture pieces. - **Wellness and Relaxation:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Design products and services that promote well-being and relaxation, catering to individuals seeking stress relief and work-life balance. - **Interior Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Redefine traditional interior design concepts by incorporating features that enhance the mental and emotional well-being of individuals within a space. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Elegant Working Desk Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mindset-builtin-computer-desk.md) - [Tubular Construction Desk Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/work-flow-desk.md) - [Beach-Inspired Desk Trios](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/deskterior.md) - [Modular Working Desks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modular-working-desk.md) - [Modular Play-Friendly Desk Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/desk-concept.md) - [Sleek Storage-Packed Workstations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/threesix-desk.md) - [Minimalist Clutter-Free Desk Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/parallel-work-table.md) - [Ultra-Organized Work Desks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/desk-for-students.md) - [Minimalist Gradient Glass Desks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/glass-desk.md)
