# Realistic Robotic Fish Bait 'Nano Lure' is a Robotic Bait That Looks & Moves Just Like a Real Fish By Rahul Kalvapalle | Published 2014-05-06 | Lifestyle Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fish-bait References: [gizmag](http://www.gizmag.com/nano-lure-robotic-fish/31912/) & [kickstarter](https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/481074265/nano-lure-newest-way-of-fishing) Dallas-based entrepreneur Raul Chacon has invented Nano Lure, an ingenious robotic fish bait gadget. The bait, which looks like a fish, is equipped with two triple-pronged hooks at the bottom, and an eyelet through which fishing like can be attached to its fin. The Nano Lure is embedded with a sensor that activates upon contact with water. The sensor works with electromagnets on the fish to give the robotic fish bait a natural, fish-like flapping motion. The robotic fish even automatically switches between slow, medium and fast swimming cycles. Chacon is currently running a [Kickstarter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aquarium-water-changer) campaign to raise funds for mass-producing the Nano Lure. A $22 pledge is all it takes to land one if and when the campaign's fundraising goal is met. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.8/10 - Popularity: 15% | Activity: 60% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 90% men, 10% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Lifestyle](https://www.trendhunter.com/lifestyle) > [Sports](https://www.trendhunter.com/sports) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Robotic Fishing Bait:** The advancement of realistic robotic fishing bait presents opportunities for disruptive innovation in the fishing industry. - **Sensor-activated Fishing Bait:** Sensor-activated fishing bait technology has the potential to revolutionize the way we fish and provide opportunities for disruption in the outdoor recreation industry. - **Artificially Intelligent Fishing Bait:** Artificially intelligent fishing bait has the potential to improve fishing efficiency and provide opportunities for disruption in the fishing industry. ### Who This Affects Most - **Fishing Equipment:** The development of robotic fishing bait technology presents an opportunity for innovation in the fishing equipment industry. - **Outdoor Recreation:** Sensor-activated fishing bait technology presents opportunities for innovation in the outdoor recreation industry, particularly in fishing and water sports. - **Robotics:** The advancement of realistic robotic fishing bait presents opportunities for disruption in the robotics industry, particularly in the development of AI and sensor technology in robotics. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Analog Sensor Fishing Rods](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wonderstrike-fishing-rod.md) - [All-in-One Fishing System](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/worming-catch-and-capture.md) - [Glow-In-The-Dark Lasso Toys](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/loop-lasso.md) - [Fishing Gear Cleaning Machines](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tackle-washing-and-storage-device.md) - [Sensory Pocket-Sized Pets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nano-mals.md) - [Fish-Attracting Net Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/selective-fishing-underwater-light.md) - [Motorized Modular Boats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modular-boat.md) - [Self-Surfacing Fishing Traps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ropeless-riser.md) - [Microscale Swimming Robots](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/swimming-robots-1.md)
