# Signal-Boosting Smartphone Cases The 'Firefly' iPhone Case Improves Signal and Battery Life By Michael Hemsworth | Published 2017-11-30 | Tech Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/firefly-iphone-case References: [geeky-gadgets](https://www.geeky-gadgets.com/mobile-signal-booster-iphone-case-helps-improve-mobile-signal-30-11-2017/) & [kickstarter](https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/666157219/meet-firefly-worlds-first-super-antenna-iphone-cas) Two of the most common issues for smartphone users is signal strength and battery life, so the 'Firefly' [iPhone](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bangcase) case has been developed to offer an upstream approach to improving these aspects. The case works by being installed on your device like any other design and instantly going to work by extending the smartphone's existing antenna capabilities. This in turn will prevent your device from having to work harder to keep a signal and subsequently increase battery life. The 'Firefly' iPhone case also boasts a rugged design that will absorb shocks from drops, while the 'WAVGEL' lining will absorb kinetic energy. A luminescent frame will offer a soft glow when light is low to keep you in better control of your device. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.5/10 - Popularity: 92% | Activity: 95% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Mobile](https://www.trendhunter.com/mobile) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Signal-boosting Smartphone Cases:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop cases that not only enhance signal strength and battery life, but also offer additional features like shock absorption and luminescent frames. - **Upgrading Antenna Capabilities:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Create technologies or accessories that can optimize the antenna capabilities of smartphones to improve signal strength and extend battery life. - **Enhancing Battery Life:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Design innovative solutions to extend smartphone battery life, such as cases or technologies that minimize power consumption. ### Where This Applies - **Consumer Electronics:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop cutting-edge technologies and products that address common consumer concerns, such as signal strength and battery life in smartphones. - **Mobile Accessories:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Create innovative smartphone accessories, like signal-boosting cases, that offer additional functionalities and improve user experience. - **Telecommunications:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Explore new technologies or strategies that can enhance signal reception and optimize power consumption in smartphones. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Action Button Smartphone Cases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bangcase.md) - [Customizable LED Smartphone Cases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smart-iphone-case.md) - [Sporty NFC-Enabled Smartphone Cases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nomad-iphone-sport-case.md) - [Content Creator Smartphone Cases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ipix-iphone-case.md) - [Gorpcore-Inspired Smartphone Accessories](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ultra-bounce-case.md) - [Functional Protective Phone Cases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/iphone-17-cases.md) - [Impact Protection Smartphone Cases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/casetify-bounce-case.md) - [Sophisticated Smartphone Cases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sophisticated-smartphone-case.md) - [Hyper-Cushioned Smartphone Cases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hypercushionedsmartphone-case.md)
