# Self-Activating Fire Extinguishers The Haven Fire Suppression System Looks Like a Smoke Detector By Rahul Kalvapalle | Published 2016-01-27 | Tech Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fire-suppression-system References: [gizmag](http://www.gizmag.com/haven-fire-sensor-extinguisher-ceiling/41482/) & [havenfiresafety](http://www.havenfiresafety.com/) The Haven fire-suppression system is a high-tech firefighting gadget that is capable of [detecting fire automatically](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/threat-detection-system), before automatically spraying non-toxic fire suppressants to extinguish the fire early before it wreaks major havoc. Each unit comprises a cylinder of suppressant that is hooked up to a sensor. The contraption is encased inside a cover that makes it look like a regular [ceiling smoke detector](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/meross-ma151-smart-smoke-alarm). The suppressant is a non-toxic, dry material that is mixed in with filler material in a 90:10 ratio, an improvement over typical fire extinguishers that are 60 per cent suppressant material and 40 per cent filler. The Haven fire suppression system is a stand-out fire-extinguishing contraption because of its proactive and aggressive approach which detects the problem and douses it quickly, rather than giving it the opportunity to worsen. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.0/10 - Popularity: 4% | Activity: 18% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Gadgets](https://www.trendhunter.com/gadgets) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Proactive Fire-suppression Systems:** The development of advanced fire-suppression systems that automatically detect and extinguish fires early on, potentially preventing major damage. - **Non-toxic Fire Suppressants:** The use of non-toxic fire suppressants that are more effective and environmentally friendly than traditional suppressants. - **Disguised Fire-suppression Devices:** The design of fire-suppression devices that blend in with regular household items, increasing safety without compromising aesthetics. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Fire Safety and Detection:** Companies in the fire safety and detection industry can explore opportunities to develop and market advanced, self-activating fire-suppression systems. - **Chemical and Materials:** Manufacturers of fire suppressants and related materials can capitalize on the demand for non-toxic, more efficient fire-suppression solutions. - **Interior Design and Home Improvement:** Interior design and home improvement industries can integrate disguised fire-suppression devices into their product offerings, merging safety and aesthetics. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Fire Suppression Solutions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fire-detection-and-suppression.md) - [Shield-Style Fire Extinguishers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hussechuck-and-shield.md) - [Easy-to-Use Fire Extinguishers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/agni-fire-extinguisher-redesign.md) - [Sustainable Fire Extinguishers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/checkfire-ltd.md) - [Thermal Camera Fire Detectors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/early-fire-detection-sensor.md) - [Smart Fire Alarm Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/notifier-inspire.md) - [In-House Fire Prevention Devices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fire-fighter.md) - [Smart Home Smoke Detectors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ecoey-smoke-detector.md) - [AI Wildfire Tracking](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wildfire-prevention1.md)
