# Smoke-Screening Bonfire Boxes This Smart Fire Pit Design Funnels Smoke Away From Sensitive Eyes By Alyson Wyers | Published 2014-07-09 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fire-pit-design References: [coolmaterial](http://coolmaterial.com/gear/the-chimney-box-is-a-fire-pit-that-keeps-smoke-out-of-your-face/) & [thechimneybox](http://thechimneybox.com) This eye-catching fire pit design was created to keep smoke out of your face. We all love a good bonfire, but the eye-stinging effect smoke can have is extremely unpleasant. This is where the Chimney Box comes in. The Chimney Box's smart fire pit design is similar to that of the Native American teepee as it funnels the [smoke away from the people](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tradein-event) seated near it. While looking good at the same time, this [boxy bonfire](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/yeti-fire-pit) is handmade in Texas out of steel. It also comes on wheels, so it can easily be moved if you want to safely store it indoors or are the type to constantly re-arrange your outdoor situation. While it may not be the most inexpensive fire pit, it is extremely smart. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.8/10 - Popularity: 39% | Activity: 6% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Home](https://www.trendhunter.com/home) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Smart Fire Pit Design:** Opportunity for innovating fire pit designs that funnel smoke away from people seated near it. - **Handmade Steel Boxes:** Opportunity to create handmade steel boxes for various purposes, such as fire pits. - **Portable Outdoor Furniture:** Opportunity for designing portable outdoor furniture that can be easily moved and stored. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Outdoor Furniture Manufacturing:** Opportunity for outdoor furniture manufacturers to innovate designs for portable and smoke-funneling products. - **Steel Manufacturing:** Opportunity for steel manufacturers to cater to the growing demand for handmade steel boxes with unique designs. - **Home Improvement Retail:** Opportunity for home improvement retailers to introduce and market smart fire pits and portable outdoor furniture. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Rounded Smoke-Free Fire Pits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smokeless-fire-pit.md) - [Smoke-Free Fire Pits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/portable-smokeless-fire-pit.md) - [Portable Smokeless Fire Pits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bondstove-fire-pit.md) - [Collapsible Smokeless Fire Pits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/folding-smokeless-fire-pit.md) - [Portable Propane-Powered Fire Pits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tailgater-x-portable-fire-pit.md) - [Smoke-Free Freestanding Fire Pits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ninja-fireside360.md) - [Gas-Powered Campfire Cans](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lavabox.md) - [Three-in-One Camping Fire Pits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/billie-pit.md) - [Elegant Firepit Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/backyard-firepit.md)
