An object like a flame douser might exist because of its utilitarian purpose, but this Fire Extinguisher by Lilian Kong demonstrates that even such purely practical objects can benefit from a makeover.
Instead of installing the same unsightly apparatuses behind glass cases in contemporary establishments, this designer has come up with a new graceful silhouette for the emergency device. Looking at the interior aspects of the modern theater, she adjusted the color of the canister to match the rich velvet red of the curtain and audience seating.
An elegant sculptural form was worked in that alludes to vintage theatrical masks and the poised architecture of traditional auditoriums. All the while, this Fire Extinguisher by Lilian Kong appeals to contemporary eyes with its glossy and curving contours.
