# Glazed Brick Abodes WoodWoodWard Architecture's Finn House is Vibrantly Red By Meghan Young | Published 2012-02-26 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/finn-house References: [plusmood](http://plusmood.com/2012/02/finn-house-woodwoodward-architecture/) & [wowowa.au](http://wowowa.com.au/) Red brick houses may not be out of the norm, but the [Finn House](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sensible-luxury) certainly is. The [red brick](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/miller-apartment-building) it uses both for its exterior and interior is not typical. Instead of being rough and matte, this brick is smooth and shiny. Second of all, the Finn House is far from traditional. It has a modern aesthetic that is sleek and minimal. Nevertheless, it does not compromise the comfort and warmth that is characteristic of family homes. Designed by WoodWoodWard Architecture, an architecture firm based in Australia, the Finn House boasts a glass box nestled between the [glazed brick extensions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/catalog-house). Spacious and airy, the Finn House lets in a lot of natural light. It is located in Silverleaves, Victoria. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.3/10 - Popularity: 67% | Activity: 55% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Smooth Brick:** Opportunity for brick manufacturers to develop smooth and shiny bricks for a modern and unique aesthetic. - **Sleek Minimalism:** Potential for designers and architects to explore sleek and minimal aesthetics while maintaining comfort and warmth in family homes. - **Glass Box Architecture:** Innovative chance for architects to incorporate glass boxes in house designs to create spacious and airy living spaces with abundant natural light. ### Where This Applies - **Brick Manufacturing:** Brick manufacturers can capitalize on the demand for smooth and shiny bricks to provide unique design options for modern homes. - **Interior Design:** Opportunity for interior designers to create sleek and minimalistic interiors that combine modern aesthetics with comfort and warmth in family homes. - **Architecture:** Architects can explore glass box architecture to design houses that maximize natural light and create spacious and airy living environments. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Timber-Cladded Brick Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vavasour-house.md) - [Geometric Red-Brick Suburban Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ofis-arhitekti.md) - [Sculptural Brick Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/runda-1.md) - [Minimal White Brick Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/brick-house.md) - [Modern Brick Kitchen Concept](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fisher-paykel-brick-home.md) - [Compact Calming Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/a-sheltered-space.md) - [Grey Brick-Cladded Mexican Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mad-house.md) - [Modern Brick Retro Residences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mclaren-excell.md) - [Heritage Modern Houses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mygunyah-by-the-circus.md)
