# Intelligent Fire Extinguishers The FINE Detects & Puts Out Fire When No One is Home By Rose Nazarali | Published 2009-09-01 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fine-fire-extinguisher References: [tuvie](http://www.tuvie.com/first-intelligent-extinguisher-fine-robot) The FINE (or First Intelligent Fire Extinguisher) was inspired after a designer’s home was burnt down when no one was home. His solution to such a problem was to develop the FINE, a fire extinguisher that can detect and put out fires on its own when no one is around. The FINE fire extinguisher is activated when the smoke detector goes off and immediately contacts emergency help. Check out the FINE in action in the video above. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.0/10 - Popularity: 2% | Activity: 79% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Intelligent Fire Extinguishers:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation lies in developing intelligent fire extinguishers that can detect and put out fires autonomously. - **Home Automation:** The FINE fire extinguisher highlights the potential for integrating intelligent systems into home automation to enhance safety and security. - **Smart Sensors:** The use of smart sensors in fire extinguishers opens up opportunities for creating advanced detection and fire suppression systems. ### Where This Applies - **Home Security:** Disruptive innovation opportunities exist in incorporating intelligent fire extinguishers as part of home security systems. - **Consumer Electronics:** The integration of intelligent fire extinguishers into consumer electronics can create new product categories and enhance safety features. - **Fire Safety Equipment:** The FINE fire extinguisher represents a disruptive innovation in the fire safety equipment industry, promoting autonomous fire detection and suppression. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Easy-to-Use Fire Extinguishers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/agni-fire-extinguisher-redesign.md) - [Shield-Style Fire Extinguishers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hussechuck-and-shield.md) - [In-House Fire Prevention Devices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fire-fighter.md) - [Sustainable Fire Extinguishers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/checkfire-ltd.md) - [Fire Suppression Solutions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fire-detection-and-suppression.md) - [AI Wildfire Tracking](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wildfire-prevention1.md) - [Thermal Camera Fire Detectors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/early-fire-detection-sensor.md) - [Smart Home Safety Alarms](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/first-alert-smart-smoke-carbon-monoxide-co-alarm.md) - [Smart Fire Alarm Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/notifier-inspire.md)
