The Seek app helps you find the perfect roommate and take some of the stress out of moving. The startup will only show you people who are real (no robots), relevant to your location and ready to move in. Seek takes personality, place and preferences into account when matching you with others. Users receive a match percentage not unlike [many dating websites](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cheers-dating-app). [Facebook](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/yuppie) is used to verify identities and will show you mutual friends that could make good roommates too. You can also only have conversations with people you are matches with, making the process to find a roommate not unlike using [Tinder](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tinder-3). ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.5/10 - Popularity: 16% | Activity: 22% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Mobile](https://www.trendhunter.com/mobile) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Roommate Matchmaking:** Seek's use of personality and location preferences to match potential roommates presents an opportunity to disrupt the traditional roommate-finding process. - **App-based Identity Verification:** Seek's use of Facebook to verify identities presents an opportunity to disrupt traditional methods of identity verification in various industries. - **Dating App-inspired Features:** Seek's use of match percentages and limited messaging options presents an opportunity to incorporate dating app-inspired features in other industries. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Real Estate:** Seek's roommate matchmaking platform presents an opportunity to disrupt the traditional roommate-finding process in the real estate industry. - **Background Checking:** Seek's use of Facebook to verify identities presents an opportunity to disrupt the traditional background checking process in industries such as employment and finance. - **Online Dating:** Seek's use of dating app-inspired features presents an opportunity for disruption in the online dating industry and other social networking platforms. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [AI-Powered Roommate-Matching Apps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/coliving-sector.md) - [AI Rental Solutions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ai-rental.md) - [Social Network Room Sharing](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flatx.md) - [Neighborhood Storage Apps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spacemate.md) - [Social Media Dating Profiles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/likelike.md) - [Cost-Effective Housing Exchange Platforms](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/house-exchange.md) - [AR Apartment Platforms](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/3d-apartment.md) - [Standalone Friend-Finding Apps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bumble-for-friends.md) - [AI Rental Assistants](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/estay-ai.md)
