# Disintegrating Charcoal Installations The Fiction and the Fabricated Image Exhibit is Abstract By Meghan Young | Published 2014-03-11 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fiction-and-the-fabricated-image References: [coolhunting](http://www.coolhunting.com/culture/seon-ghi-bahk-fiction-and-the-fabricated-image.php) & [zadokgallery](http://www.zadokgallery.com/exhibitions/seon-ghi-bahk-fiction/) The Fiction and the Fabricated Image [art installation](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/your-psychoacoustic-light-ensemble) looks as though it revolves around sculptures that have been frozen in time in the midst of disintegrating into thin air. When imploding or exploding, the creations are mesmerizing in their scope and design. Yet they may also appear slightly familiar. That is because they are the latest iterations of South Korean artist [Seon Ghi Bahk](http://www.trendhunter.com/trends/seon-ghi-bahk)'s charcoal sculptures. But in place of definitive forms including stairs, planters and even raindrops, the Fiction and the Fabricated Image exhibit is made up of sculptures that are more abstract. Black charcoal pieces have been suspended from the ceiling using transparent cords. Whether coming together as columns or more complex shapes, the sculptures are visuall striking. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.3/10 - Popularity: 64% | Activity: 26% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Abstract Sculptures:** Creating abstract sculptures using unconventional materials and methods. - **Disintegrating Installations:** Exploring the beauty of disintegrating installations and the emotional impact they can create. - **Suspension Art:** Experimenting with suspending sculptures from ceilings for a unique visual experience. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Art and Sculpture:** Opportunities for artists and sculptors to push the boundaries of traditional art forms. - **Exhibition and Gallery:** Creating immersive and captivating installations for exhibition spaces and galleries. - **Interior Design:** Incorporating sculptural elements into interior design to enhance visual aesthetics. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Psychedelic Sculptural Art Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/frank-stella-recent-sculpture.md) - [Structured Art Shows](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flowchart.md) - [Broken-Aesthetic Sculpture Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/brokenaesthetic-sculpture-collection.md) - [Paper-Made Mosaic Artwork](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/real-life-architecture-exhibition.md) - [UK-Based Modern Art Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/relics-in-the-landscape.md) - [Lightning-Inspired Artful Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bright-light-shining.md) - [Artful Suspended Fashion Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/invisible-figures.md) - [Textile Art Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/olga-de-amaral.md) - [Textured Cast Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-scad.md)
