# Hotel-Inspired Houses The FG Residence Looks Like a Converted Resort By Jamie Danielle Munro | Published 2014-04-08 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fg-residence References: [contemporist](http://www.contemporist.com/2014/04/05/fg-residence-by-reinach-mendonca-architects/) & [rmaa.br](http://www.rmaa.com.br/) The FG Residence is a house in Brazil constructed by Reinach Mendonça Architects. Although the abode is designed as [a home for a family](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mango-lane), it looks more like a five star resort than a quaint and cozy space for parents and children. The inside has an open concept, with most rooms being quite wide and falling out onto the [pool area](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/red-rock) on the main floor. To walk up to the second level, a ramp-like area was installed instead of stairs, again making the house look like something from a hotel that's trying to accommodate people both young and old. Mostly [concrete material](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rua-polnia-house) was used for the outside of the house, and the architects went with a blocked, structural look. Hopefully the family living in the FG Residence constantly feels like they are living in a high-end resort, because it certainly looks like it! ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.5/10 - Popularity: 49% | Activity: 17% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen X - Top markets: South America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Architecture](https://www.trendhunter.com/architecture) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Luxury Residential Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Explore the concept of designing homes that resemble high-end resorts to offer a luxurious living experience for families. - **Open Concept Living:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Redefine the traditional layout of residential spaces by creating open concept designs that seamlessly integrate indoor and outdoor areas. - **Architectural Materials:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Experiment with unconventional materials and structural aesthetics to create visually striking and unique residential designs. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Real Estate:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Embrace the trend of hotel-inspired residential designs to cater to high-end homebuyers seeking a resort-like living experience. - **Architecture:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Explore new approaches to residential design by incorporating open concepts, unique materials, and structural elements inspired by hotel resorts. - **Interior Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Offer specialized services that focus on creating luxurious and resort-style living spaces within residential homes. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Transparent Shell-Covered Houses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/casa-brisa.md) - [Sleek Contemporary Brazilian Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/laguna-house.md) - [Concrete Brutalist Hilltop Residences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pedro-domingos-arquitectos.md) - [Nature-Inspired Minimal Residences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/simara-melo.md) - [Hidden Resort Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stealth-1.md) - [Fish Lifestyle-Inspired Residences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/house-of-gills.md) - [Tree-Inspired Suburban Tranquil Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/casa-figueira.md) - [Tranquil Argentinian Forest Retreats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/forest-house-1.md) - [Pavilion-Style Art Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/galeria-house.md)
