'PROTEUS' is the name of a unique new ferrofluid installation from Zurich-based designers Maria Smigieska and Pierre Cutellic. While ferrofluid is a liquid that's highly interesting on its own, the designers created a [wall-mounted table](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/interactive-transformation-table) that invites people to look at its surface. As a result, the ferrofluid encapsulated in the display morphs thanks to a KUKA KR3 robot and an intervention from real-time face-tracking technology. Viewers are able to move their facial features to have the surface of the table, made up of [ferrofluid-filled spheres](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-ferro-capsule), change before their very own eyes.

The interactive installation can currently be found at the Ars Electronica Center in Linz, Austria, as a piece of the [Creative Robotics](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modern-living) exhibition.
