# Expanding Trellis Illuminators The Fence Lamp Lengthens to Brighten Larger Spaces By Amelia Roblin | Published 2011-08-15 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fence-lamp References: [behance.net](http://www.behance.net/vasaboys/frame/365517) Many people install [light fixtures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/superwire) with little consideration for changing needs, though few designs are quite as versatile as the Fence Lamp by Oleksandr Shestakovych. Its [expandable crisscrossing slat system](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/expand-furniture) allows its brightening bars to cover greater surface area should a requirement arise. To demonstrate the clever concept behind this project, its creator has staged a scene in which a larger spread of light might be necessary. A bench has been assembled to mirror the mobile latticework of the fixture above, and as it elongates to suggest more people present at the table, the [pendant lamp](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kala-lamp) can be extended to cast a glow on the additional occupants as well. The Fence Lamp by Oleksandr Shestakovych does what few fixtures do, and would be even further enhanced if installed with a dimmer. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 0.9/10 - Popularity: 8% | Activity: 11% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Expandable Light Fixtures:** Designs that allow for additional light coverage when needed, providing versatility and convenience. - **Dynamic Lighting:** Lighting solutions that adjust to changing needs and can be programmed to suit various environments and moods. - **Multi-functional Light Fixtures:** Light fixtures that can provide not only illumination but also serve multiple purposes. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Home Lighting:** Manufacturers of indoor and outdoor lighting fixtures for residential spaces can capitalize on this trend to provide customers with more flexible and versatile lighting options. - **Commercial Lighting:** Companies that provide lighting solutions for commercial and industrial premises can offer products that can be customized and adapted to suit different environments and needs. - **Smart Lighting:** Developers of smart lighting systems that can be controlled remotely and adapt to changing needs can incorporate expandable features and dynamic lighting options to enhance functionality and convenience. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Shape-Shifting Modular Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/moodi.md) - [Foldable Wooden Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/interactive-folding-lamp.md) - [Paper Sheath Lighting Solutions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sorpresa.md) - [Modular Outdoor Lighting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lanova.md) - [Blooming Lighting Fixtures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pavo.md) - [Umbrella-Inspired Whimsical Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wasaga-lamp.md) - [Ultra-Flexible Lamp Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/anywhereuse-lamp.md) - [Modular LED Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ilo-lamp.md) - [Space-Efficient Versatile Lamp Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dedicate-lamp.md)
