# Quirky Handmade Felt Toys These Stuffed Felt Toys are More Unusual Than Most By Mishal Omar | Published 2016-06-01 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/felt-toys References: [thisiscolossal](http://www.thisiscolossal.com/2016/05/new-felted-toy-specimens-by-hine-mizushima/?utm_source=feedly&utm_medium=webfeeds) & [etsy](https://www.etsy.com/shop/hine) In an unusual twist on [stuffed felt toys](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/deddy-bears), Vancouver-based artist Hine Mizushima creates stuffed toys and small felt displays from more unique animals. The artist creates and sells a plethora of designs on [Etsy](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/arcade-clock) and Society6 and each item and display is endearingly unique. There are plenty of intricate [stuffed insects](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/inedible-doll) which are placed onto wooden wall mounts, octopuses that are playing instruments, ethereal mushroom displays and small felt displays of squids. The artist also includes some strange pieces that have a darker subject matter -- with small felt females that appear as if they are using their internal organs as leashes for their pets. The strange felt toys are certainly not aimed at children, since the unusual choice of animals and occasionally bleak toys are meant to be though-provoking for adults. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 0.9/10 - Popularity: 10% | Activity: 10% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Unusual Stuffed Toys:** Opportunity for unique and unconventional stuffed toy designs to appeal to adults. - **Artistic Felt Displays:** Potential for creative and visually appealing felt displays that captivate and intrigue. - **Dark and Thought-provoking Designs:** Chance to explore unconventional and provocative themes in felt toy creations. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Artisan Toy Manufacturing:** Disruptive innovation opportunity for crafting and producing unconventional felt toys for adult enthusiasts. - **Home Decor:** Opportunity to incorporate unique felt displays as artistic elements in home decor products. - **Art Therapy:** Potential for utilizing felt toys with thought-provoking designs in therapeutic settings for introspection and exploration. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Adorable Organic Stuffed Animals](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/organic-stuffed-animals.md) - [Intricately Handcrafted Animal Toys](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lulu-the-lamb.md) - [Kid's Felt Building Kits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/knop-knop.md) - [Emotional Exploration Plushes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/emotional-baggage-by-solobo-toys.md) - [Comforting Plush Collectibles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cloudheads.md) - [Witty Plushie Toys](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/punchkins-are-punny-collectibles.md) - [Playful Crochet Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/crochet-collection.md) - [Furry Fidget Companions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/furry-fidget-friends.md) - [Imaginative Soft Toys](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/blabla.md)
