Most people find traffic to be a drag, but 'Scribble', a new tool from designer Felix Ros, turns traffic into a draw — literally. The device serves as a [steering device](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/essenza-scv12-sim-racing-steering-wheel) for [self-driving vehicles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tensor-robocar), and while that might sound like an oxymoron, it's actually a clever way to let consumers keep a sense of control as technology continues to automate our existence.

Scribble consists of a [smooth haptic device](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-id360-touchstone) and a dashboard interface. While riding in a self-driving vehicle, passengers might feel the need to change lanes — for example, to pass other vehicles. With Scribble's haptic device lets users draw out the path of their lane change, and that drawing is reflected on the screen. But the drawn directive doesn't play out in real time. Instead, the command gets loaded into the vehicle's operation sequence, leaving the car's AI to decide when it's safe to make the lane change.
