# Faceless Monster Murals Favio Martinez Creates These Colorful Murals of Monsters Without Faces By Lacey-Jane Walsh | Published 2013-11-20 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/favio-martinez References: [thewondrous](http://thewondrous.com/amazingly-wonderful-mural-paintings-by-curiot/) & [curiot.tumblr](http://curiot.tumblr.com/) Artist Favio Martinez (also known as Curiot) creates these wildly vibrant monster murals. These colorful monsters were inspired by Mexican folklore. Each of these creatures seems to be missing a face (at least for the most part). In place of facial features, Martinez paints colorful patterns and shapes that draw attention immediately. Each of these imaginative monster murals contains surreal elements that make them more interesting. For example, one of these wall-sized artworks features overturned spiders, with car shaped bodies. Favio Martinez tends to mix human figures with animals in his artworks, in order to create new creatures entirely. These intriguing murals seem to fit that pattern. They're also inspired by the day of the dead, and injected with eye-catching geometric patterns. Martinez is currently living in Mexico City, where he's painting this magnificent monster murals. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.0/10 - Popularity: 19% | Activity: 2% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Colorful Murals:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Developing new techniques or technology to create even more vibrant and visually stunning murals. - **Mexican Folklore Art:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Leveraging augmented reality to bring Mexican folklore art to life and create immersive experiences for viewers. - **Mixed Creature Art:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Exploring the use of AI algorithms to generate unique and captivating mixed creature artworks. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Art and Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Developing smart paint materials that change colors or patterns in response to environmental conditions, creating dynamic murals. - **Tourism and Entertainment:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Creating interactive mural tours using augmented reality technology, allowing tourists to engage with the murals in new and interactive ways. - **Technology and AI:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Building AI-driven platforms that can automatically generate unique and visually captivating artwork based on different artistic styles and inspirations. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Statement Wall Covering Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/el-muro.md) - [Adorable Monster-Inspired Graphic Tees](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-monsters.md) - [Stunning Origami Portraits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/origami-portaits.md) - [Playful Character Graphic Apparel](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/monsters-collection.md) - [Otherwordly Art Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/william-monk.md) - [Creature-Like Floor Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-pink-robots-won.md) - [Contemporary Modernist Mexican Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/max-cetto.md) - [Artistically Rendered One-Of-A-Kind Autos](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/romero-britto.md) - [Playful Pop Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/louis-vuitton-octopus.md)
