The project was lead by husband and wife architects Maria Berman and Brad Horn, whose intention was to create a romantic and modern interpretation of the [classic country home](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/three-oaks-farm). The designers embraced every awkward quark about the home and left as much of the [original house](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fire-island-house) as they could. The original asphalt roof shingles were replaced with eastern white pine wood shingles, which softens the exterior. While the door is painted in a vibrant Van Gogh Yellow. The home sits on a large lot which has all been carefully landscaped to create a whimsical surrounding.
