# Contemporary Farmhouse Renovations Gert Wingårdh's Remodeled Country Home is Rustically Modern By Jana Pijak | Published 2015-03-27 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/farmhouse-renovation References: [archiscene.net](http://www.archiscene.net/housing/gert-wingardh-farmhouse-remodeled/) & [wingardhs.se](http://www.wingardhs.se) Gert Wingårdh's farmhouse renovation draws inspiration from a mix of rustic and modern design elements. The seventeenth century home boasts a contemporary interior that is accented with retro elements that reference its past. While most of the home's decor relies on [minimalism](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/house-comet), its [original wood paneling](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fienile-n) references its history and is displayed in white, warm wood and lime green finishes. Infused with floor-to-ceiling windows and an inspiring sun room, this farmhouse renovation is visually striking and inviting to visitors. The home is spacious and open, featuring functional furnishings rather that overly ornate accessories. When experimenting with ornamentation, Gert Wingårdh highlights the home's vast book collection and uses it to add color to a monochromatic office space. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.2/10 - Popularity: 91% | Activity: 86% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Architecture](https://www.trendhunter.com/architecture) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Rustic Modern Design:** Opportunity for designers to blend traditional and contemporary elements in home renovations. - **Minimalistic Decor:** Demand for simplicity and functionality in interior design. - **Functional Furnishings:** Growing preference for practical furniture over ornate accessories. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Interior Design:** Opportunity for interior designers to create unique and personalized spaces. - **Home Renovation:** Growing market for renovating and updating houses to blend modern and traditional aesthetics. - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Increasing demand for functional and adaptable furniture designs. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Renovated Rural Farmhouses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/a-place-in-the-country.md) - [Traditional Stone Farmhouse Extensions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/studio-bressan.md) - [Wales Farmhouse Renovations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/delfyd-farmhouse.md) - [Historic Farmhouse Revivals](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/joe-burns.md) - [Barn Home Transformations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bulls-barn.md) - [Modern Vacation Barn Houses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/les-greniers-de-babel.md) - [Modernist Home Renovations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bauhaus-budapest-apartment.md) - [Contemporary Countryside Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/contemporary-countryside-home.md) - [Plant-Filled Home Renovations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/casa-c.md)
