# Space-Bending Minimalist Homes This Family Home Keeps it Simple and Spacious By Vasiliki Marapas | Published 2014-07-29 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/family-homes References: [contemporist](http://www.contemporist.com/2014/07/26/sorocaba-house-by-estudio-bra-architecture/) & [estudiobraarquitetura](http://www.estudiobraarquitetura.com/) Estudio BRA Architecture designed the 'Sorocabo House,' a family home located in São Paulo, Brazil. The house is very stark and minimal, both inside and out. The exterior is characterized by its clean lines, cubic volumes and cantilevered design. Inside, the home features an [all-white palette from floor to ceiling](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vaulted-monochrome-haus). Though one might assume this to be harsh, it actually gives off a greater illusion of fluidity and the abundance of space. The look is cushioned by soft interior lighting and natural light accessed by the large windows. The Sorocabo House proves that [minimalism doesn't have to be cold](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/house-hkarn). Though incredibly modern, the house is not particularly intimating. Guests and visitors will immediately feel welcomed to this pristine residence. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.5/10 - Popularity: 80% | Activity: 48% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Minimalist Interior Design:** Embracing minimalist interior design can create an illusion of fluidity and maximize space. - **Clean Lines and Cubic Volumes:** Incorporating clean lines and cubic volumes in architectural designs can create a modern and spacious look. - **Soft Interior Lighting:** Using soft interior lighting can enhance the warmth and welcoming atmosphere of a minimalist home. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Architecture and Design:** Architects and designers can find disruptive innovation opportunities in developing new ways to incorporate minimalism, clean lines, and soft lighting into homes. - **Interior Lighting:** The interior lighting industry can explore innovative lighting solutions to enhance the ambiance and create a welcoming environment in minimalist homes. - **Home Furnishing and Decor:** Companies in the home furnishing and decor industry can offer minimalist furniture and decor options to complement the aesthetic of modern, spacious homes. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Minimal Japanese Home Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/house-in-kyobate.md) - [Nature-Inspired Minimal Residences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/simara-melo.md) - [Compact White-Painted Modern Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/whitepainted-modern-home.md) - [Refined Modern Dwellings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/silver-house.md) - [Minimal Material Residences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/marcela-cure.md) - [Brutalist Minimal Apartment Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fj-apartment.md) - [Simple Material Family Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/openfield-house.md) - [Minimal Philosophy Toronto Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/forest-hill-residence.md) - [Serene Heartwarming Villa Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/villa-minimale.md)
