A new year-long project, EATLACMA, is a collaboration between the LA County Museum of Art and Fallen Fruit to explore the social role of [food and art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/7-paintings-the-art-of-dining) and the rituals of eating.

Fallen Fruit is an [activist art project](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pocket-protests) that started out by creating maps of [fruit trees](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/soft-grounds) growing on or over Los Angeles’ public property. The maps served to springboard discussion about neighborhood, public/private property, and ideas about community.

As a metaphor, fallen fruit symbolizes the ways that we’ve become disconnected from the things that both literally and figuratively nourish us as human beings.
