# Prehistoric Armageddon Art The Fall of the Dinosaurs Uses Dominos to Show an Epic Extinction By Wes Walcott | Published 2012-10-02 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fall-of-the-dinosaurs References: [gizmodo](http://gizmodo.com/5947800/3d-domino-mayhem-makes-dinosaur-extinction-way-more-adorable) & [cheezburger](http://cheezburger.com/42597377) Uploaded by [YouTube](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chrome-dino) user FlippyCat, The Fall of the Dinosaurs demonstrates what the extension level event that wiped out the thunder lizards might look like if the world was composed entirely out of dominos. Although many [dinosaurs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dinosaur-toys) probably only experience a few brief moments of blast waves and blazing heat before they were wiped out by a colossal asteroid impact, it took a team of stackers over 38 hours to recreate the scene using a 3D domino layout. The video itself is quite entertaining as you watch a domino asteroid collide with a domino Earth and bear witness to a triceratops trio literally fall to pieces. What's even more impressive is the time-lapse video tacked on at the end which reveals the painstaking process process required to stack the thousands of dominos horizontally and vertically in a pattern that allows them to all come crashing down in sequence. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.2/10 - Popularity: 17% | Activity: 10% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Gen Alpha, Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Domino Art:** The rise of domino art as a creative medium for storytelling and entertainment. - **Time-lapse Videography:** Utilizing time-lapse videography to showcase the labor-intensive process of creating visual art. - **Extinction-themed Art:** Increasing popularity of art pieces that visualize historic or future extinction events. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Art and Entertainment:** Opportunities for artists and creators to innovate and stand out in the growing field of domino art and time-lapse videography. - **Education and Science:** Using extinction-themed art as an engaging tool for teaching science and history. - **Event Planning and Advertising:** Using domino art and time-lapse videography as a unique marketing tool for businesses and brands. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [STEM Excavation Kits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/jurassic-world-dinosaur-dig.md) - [Dinosaur-Themed Puzzle Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dinosaur-fossils-triceratops-skull.md) - [Dinosaur Encyclopedia Tools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dinodex.md) - [Dinosaur Fossil Puzzle Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-dinosaur-fossils-trex-skull.md) - [Offline Game-Inspired Brick Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/brick-dangerous.md) - [Collectible Dinosaur Desk Toys](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chrome-dino.md) - [Frosting-Covered Dinosaur Cookies](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dynamite-dinosaurs.md) - [AI-Powered Dinosaur Tracking Apps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dinosaur-footprints.md) - [Digital Dinosaur Toys](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bitzee-jurassic-world.md)
