# Eye-Controlled Computers You'll Love the Lenovo Tobii Laptop at First Sight By Marlon Franco | Published 2011-03-20 | Tech Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/eye-controlled-laptop References: [technabob](http://technabob.com/blog/2011/03/02/tobii-eye-controlled-laptop/) & [gizmag](http://www.gizmag.com/tobii-lenovo-develop-eye-control-notebook/18039/) Swedish computer manufacturer Tobii has collaborated with [Lenovo](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/auto-twist-ai-pc) to create the world’s first ever eye-controlled laptop. It's called the Tobii laptop, with a sensor bar below its LCD that tracks the user’s eyes. Once calibrated, the eye-controlled laptop will allow eyes to point, select and scroll and perform a variety of additional functions, including switching between apps or firing up a quick-access taskbar. "More than anything else, the Tobii laptop prototype is proof that our [eye-tracking technology](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/eyetracking-platforms) is mature enough to be used in standard computer interfaces," said Henrik Eskilsson, the CEO of [Tobii Technology](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tobii-glasses-x). "To reach a state where the technology is part of the average computer, we need to make it smaller and cheaper. We believe that this can be realized in a couple of years by partnering with the right manufacturer." ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.1/10 - Popularity: 33% | Activity: 21% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Gadgets](https://www.trendhunter.com/gadgets) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Eye-tracking Technology:** The development of eye-tracking technology for computer interfaces opens up opportunities for hands-free control and improved accessibility. - **Human-computer Interaction:** Advancements in eye-controlled laptops and interfaces are revolutionizing the ways in which humans interact with computers, leading to new user experiences. - **Mainstream Adoption:** The integration of eye-tracking technology into standard computer interfaces indicates a potential shift towards widespread adoption in the future. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Computer Technology:** Eye-controlled laptops and interfaces present disruptive innovation opportunities for the computer technology industry, enabling new product offerings and enhanced user experiences. - **Gaming:** The gaming industry can leverage eye-tracking technology to create immersive gaming experiences and improve gameplay mechanics. - **Assistive Technology:** Eye-controlled computers have the potential to significantly improve accessibility for individuals with mobility impairments, opening up opportunities in the assistive technology industry. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Eye-Tracking Device Solutions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/eyetracking-solution.md) - [Conceptual Transforming Laptops](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/auto-twist-ai-pc.md) - [Eye-Tracking Technology Functions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/eyetracking-features.md) - [3D-Emulating Laptop Displays](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aspire-3d-15-spatiallabs.md) - [Glasses-Free 3D Laptops](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/3d-laptop.md) - [Facial Gesture Control Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/facial-gesture-control.md) - [Augmented Reality Projection Laptops](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spacetop.md) - [Wearable Eye Trackers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tobii-glasses-x.md) - [Chromatic Customizable Display Laptops](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lenovo-thinkbook-13x-gen-4-spe.md)
