# Frightening Facial Tattoos From Permanently-Inked Gashes to Tattooed Bone Eyebrows By Cowbag | Published 2009-04-23 | Lifestyle Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/extreme-facial-tattoos-includes-ants-around-the-eye-and-permanent-inked-bru References: [cakeheadlovesevil](http://cakeheadlovesevil.wordpress.com/2009/04/23/facials/) I find these tattoos rather rather odd and stylish at the same time. After a second look, however, maybe ants around the eye should be left for anteaters. Out of this entire collection, what I find most disturbing--and if I am honest, perhaps a step too far--is the [permanent tattoo](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/blackdot-device) of a violent beating. Surely sufferers can confirm that the scars inside are enough! As with previous [face tattoos](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/eye-bijoux), I do admire people who have gone for it in this way--they really do put their ink where their mouth is. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.8/10 - Popularity: 99% | Activity: 97% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Lifestyle](https://www.trendhunter.com/lifestyle) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Extreme Facial Tattoos:** Opportunity for artists and tattoo parlors to offer unique and daring designs for those seeking extreme facial tattoos. - **Scar-inspired Tattoos:** Chance for tattoo artists to create realistic scar-inspired tattoos as an alternative to actual scars, appealing to individuals seeking distinctive body art. - **Face Tattoo as a Statement:** Potential for face tattoos to be recognized as a bold personal statement and form of self-expression, leading to innovative techniques and specialized designs. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Tattoo Artists & Parlors:** Avenues for tattoo artists and parlors to explore new and boundary-pushing tattoo designs, catering to individuals seeking unconventional facial tattoos. - **Cosmetic Surgery:** Disruption opportunity for cosmetic surgery industry to offer scar-inspired tattooing as a non-invasive alternative, providing individuals with the appearance of scars without going under the knife. - **Fashion & Accessories:** Innovative potential for fashion and accessories industries to explore face tattoos as a bold fashion statement, inspiring new lines of clothing and accessories that complement facial tattoos. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Body Artwork-Inspired Fashion](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/body-tattoo.md) - [Unusual Food Tattoo Challenges](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/omaha-steak.md) - [Tattoo-Inspired Joint Blemish Patches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tattoo-compact.md) - [Temporary Oral Tattoos](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/temporary-oral-tattoos.md) - [Transformative Survivor Tattoos](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mark-of-life.md) - [Tattoo-Style Pimple Patches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/zitsticka-x-jonboy.md) - [QSR Temporary Tattoo Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chipotle-temporary-tattoo-collection.md) - [Beauty Tattoo Pop-Ups](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/black-vinyl-lip-stain.md) - [Interactive Tattoo Apps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/inkstory.md)
