# Bursting Bureaus The ‘Explosion Cabinet' Detonates in Your Room By Luisa Amanda Gomes | Published 2010-02-12 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/explosion-cabinet References: [inewidea](http://www.inewidea.com/2010/02/11/21155.html) & [opulentitems](http://www.opulentitems.com/) The ‘[Explosion Cabinet](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/berto-hidden-secrets)’ is certainly one of the oddest dressers I have ever seen. All the drawer pieces assemble into a large bureau, which looks like it exploded with too much stuff. Looking like a [large 3D wooden puzzle](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/puzzle-shelf) that’s actually functional as well, I really wouldn’t know what items I would trust to keep safe in one of those drawers. Nonetheless, this cabinet is pretty stylish. As a prank, I could always let the guests use it. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.3/10 - Popularity: 80% | Activity: 71% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Home](https://www.trendhunter.com/home) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Explosion Furniture:** Disruptive innovation opportunities lie in creating furniture designs that challenge traditional forms and aesthetics, captivating consumers with unique and unconventional styles. - **Functional Puzzles:** By blending functionality with interactive elements, there is potential for disruptive innovation in creating furniture that doubles as engaging puzzles or games, offering both practicality and entertainment value. - **Unconventional Storage:** Opportunities for disruptive innovation arise in designing storage solutions that prioritize creativity and aesthetic appeal, transforming furniture pieces into conversation starters and statement pieces in homes or offices. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Furniture Design:** The furniture design industry can explore disruptive innovation by challenging conventional design norms and developing unique, attention-grabbing furniture pieces that spark conversation and intrigue consumers. - **Interior Design:** In the realm of interior design, there are potential disruptive innovation opportunities in incorporating unconventional and visually striking furniture pieces that inject personality and add a distinct touch to spaces. - **Home Decor:** Disruptive innovation can be achieved in the home decor industry by introducing unconventional storage solutions that blend aesthetics with functionality, offering consumers unique and eye-catching options to enhance and personalize their living spaces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Sandbox-Like Modular Storage Cabinets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modular-storage-cabinet1.md) - [Minimal Four-Legged Wooden Cabinets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/exposure-cabinet.md) - [Stylish Oakwood Storage Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/moose-cabinet.md) - [Unique Burl-Inspired Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/don-heston-studio.md) - [Volcanic Rock-Inspired Cabinet Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tuff-pencil-cabinet.md) - [Miniature Sanitized Cabinet Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/yujin-lee.md) - [Twisted Wooden Boxed Sideboard](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/deniz-aktay.md) - [Twisting CGI-Designed Sideboards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bookscrew-sideboard.md) - [Forest-Inspired Wooden Cabinets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hayashi-cabinet.md)
