‘Contrast’ is an [experimental lighting series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kawabi) designed by Julien Carretero for the Victor Hunt Gallery. The collection is [metal-based](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/polyshape), with Carretero examining and playing with materials such as bronze, copper and steel. Carretero manipulates these materials – namely industrial pipes -- to achieve [unusual lighting formations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nova-pendant-light).

In one piece, Carretero uses a laser to reveal and illuminate the inside of these industrial pipes. Not only is this a fantastic light construction, it also juxtaposes the interior and exterior of the pipe (staying true to the collections title ‘Contrast’). These hollowed-out pipes are surprisingly beautiful once Carretero is finished with them. The entire collection is absolutely tremendous and I encourage those who are interested in the repurposing of raw materials to check it out.
