# Candid Destruction Images David Schalliol Salvages Beauty from Destruction in Event Photo Series By Kyle Towers | Published 2013-01-26 | Tech Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/event-photo-series References: [thisiscolossal](http://www.thisiscolossal.com/2013/01/fire-and-ice-the-frozen-aftermath-of-a-chicago-warehouse-fire/) & [flickr](http://www.flickr.com/photos/69102971@N00/) David Schalliol captures this incredible event photo series in the wake of a brutal fire in Chicago. It took the heroic efforts of [200 firefighters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/2026-australian-firefighters) to put out the blaze that took place in an [abandoned warehouse](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/1960s-warehouse). The intense cold made it difficult as water from the fire hose would freeze almost instantly. From this phenomena came the amazing visual display that was captured in David's photos. What makes the series even sweeter was that no one was injured. From the photos it looks like David was able to track down the location of where Jack Frost lives. Ice has completely covered every inch of space as if it were a winter wonderland. It's too bad about the building, but it may just be the most photo-worthy it has ever been. This [amazing event photo series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/still-life-1) is evidence of that. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.1/10 - Popularity: 29% | Activity: 27% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Photography](https://www.trendhunter.com/photography) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Cold-weather Photography:** Opportunity for photographers to capture unique and visually stunning images in extreme cold weather conditions. - **Firefighting Technology:** Potential for innovation in firefighting equipment and techniques to combat fires in extreme cold temperatures. - **Abandoned Buildings Revitalization:** Opportunity to find creative ways to repurpose abandoned buildings and create photography-worthy spaces. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Photography:** Photographers can explore new techniques and equipment to capture stunning images in extreme weather conditions. - **Firefighting:** Firefighting industry can develop specialized equipment and methods for combating fires in freezing temperatures. - **Real Estate:** Real estate developers and architects can find inspiration for repurposing and revitalizing abandoned buildings into unique spaces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Explosion-Damaged Sculpture Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/light-into-darkness.md) - [Dramatic Doomsday Bunker Images](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/alastair-philip-wiper.md) - [Ice Factory-Transformed Galleries](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ifbe.md) - [Industrial Architecture-Themed Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/industrial-archaeology.md) - [Upcycled Object Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nendo-and-daniel-arsham.md) - [Broken-Aesthetic Sculpture Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/brokenaesthetic-sculpture-collection.md) - [Public Art Displays](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/paul-anthony-smith.md) - [AI-Generated Real-World Transformations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ai-generated-world.md) - [Apocalypse Post Pandemic Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/contemporary-urban-art.md)
