# River Tables Jason Phillips Takes Inspiration From Historic Beauty of the Euphrates By Susan Read | Published 2009-07-28 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/euphrates-slab-table-jason-phillips References: [designspotter](http://www.designspotter.com/) & [designcentre.ru](http://designcentre.ru/node/56645) American designer Jason Phillips has designed a beautiful [slab table](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/barricane-tables) that honors the [natural beauty](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/riva-collection) of the Euphrates River. Taking a [reclaimed piece of Chamcha wood](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/boia), he channels a grove through the table that mimics the topography of the river. The Euphrates, alongside the Tigris river, helped to define the early culture of Ancient Mesopotamia. Now it can define a new space in the design culture of functional art. Any home would be enriched by this fine piece of history, geography, and art. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.4/10 - Popularity: 1% | Activity: 33% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Natural-inspired Furniture:** The trend of incorporating natural elements into furniture design presents opportunities for innovative creations that pay homage to nature's beauty. - **Reclaimed Materials:** Utilizing reclaimed materials in furniture design not only contributes to sustainability efforts but also creates unique and eco-friendly pieces with a story behind them. - **Functional Art:** The rise of functional art allows designers to blur the line between furniture and art, offering disruptive innovation opportunities to create visually stunning and functional pieces. ### Where This Applies - **Furniture Design:** The furniture design industry can explore incorporating natural elements, reclaimed materials, and functional art to create unique and innovative pieces. - **Home Decor:** The home decor industry can tap into the trend of natural-inspired furniture and offer customers a range of eco-friendly and visually captivating options. - **Interior Design:** Interior designers can incorporate natural-inspired furniture, reclaimed materials, and functional art to create breathtaking spaces that seamlessly blend aesthetics and functionality. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Lake-Sourced Minimal Wooden Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/intersection-table.md) - [Fluid Topographic Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dune-table.md) - [Coiled Timber Dining Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/recoil.md) - [Topographical Recycled Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/two-coffee-tables.md) - [Topographic Wooden Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/topographic-coffee-table.md) - [Sophisticated Table Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/monumental-table.md) - [Raw Stone-Inspired Jagged Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fels-coffee-table.md) - [Rustic Recycled Wood Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/primitive-structures-table-design.md) - [Island-Inspired Wooden Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/island-table.md)
