# Group Location-Sharing Clocks The 'Eta Clock' Knows If You're at Work or School By Ell Smith | Published 2017-09-07 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/eta-clock References: [theverge](https://www.theverge.com/2017/9/6/16262010/eta-clock-kickstarter-harry-potter-weasley-family-track-locations-traveling) & [kickstarter](https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2111232964/the-eta-clock-a-community-location-device) The 'Eta Clock' deviates from the [standard form of timepieces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dozen-clock) by bringing about new methods of communication between family members. Instead of reading the time, this app-enabled device displays the locations of selected friends and family members using an [interactive clock interface](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/clock-o-clock). Through the accompanied app, users can set frequently visited locations on their phone, like the gym, school, or a significant other's house. When arrived at that location, the user's color-specific hand will automatically move, pointing towards the appropriate icon. The Eta Clock can also display when a user is in transit, if it detects movement quicker than 3 miles per hour. The Eta Clock is perfect for busy families, who sometimes forget to keep each other in the loop. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.1/10 - Popularity: 71% | Activity: 73% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Location-sharing Clocks:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop advanced location-sharing features to enhance communication and coordination among family members. - **Interactive Clock Interfaces:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Create interactive clock interfaces for displaying various information beyond just time, such as locations and activities. - **Smartphone-connected Devices:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Integrate clock-like devices with smartphone apps to provide real-time location updates and notifications. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Smart Home Technology:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Innovate smart home devices to include location-sharing features for better family communication and coordination. - **Wearable Technology:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop wearables with integrated location-sharing capabilities to enhance personal safety and convenience. - **Family Organization Tools:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Create innovative tools and platforms for managing and sharing family activities, schedules, and locations. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Subtle Lifestyle-Changing Clocks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/superlocal-clock.md) - [Concentric Timezone Wall Clocks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/analog-wall-clock.md) - [Venn Diagram Wall Clocks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/jetlag-clock.md) - [Gesture Based Structured Clocks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tilt-smart-clock.md) - [Global Time Zone Navigators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/what-is-the-time.md) - [Connected Simplicity-Focused Clocks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smart-rubiks-cube-clock.md) - [Tape Measurable Time Devices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/setime-clock.md) - [WiFi-Enabled Home Clocks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mondaine.md) - [Global Time Trackers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/global-time-trackers.md)
