# Arboreal Lattice Ledges The Esedra Domino Shelf Draws Branchlike Shadows Indoors By Amelia Roblin | Published 2012-01-13 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/esedra-domino-shelf References: [trendir](http://www.trendir.com/archives/006058.html) & [esedradesign.it](http://www.esedradesign.it/product.asp?id=30) The natural world offers a cornucopia of visual delights which are difficult to recreate in man-made environments. The Esedra Domino Shelf is inspired by the [intricate patterns of nature's design](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/roots-collection-1), from the intertwined tree branches to the elaborate silhouettes they leave on the forest floor. Studio Batoni developed an abstract adaptation of arboreal boughs to produce chic and contemporary pieces which acts as furniture and sculpture simultaneously. The [storage system](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ledoux-prt-collection) comprises a collection of [modular cubbies](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/arca), taking squared and rectangular frames with exquisite backings of branch-like fretwork. The painted wooden boxes look striking in front of walls of contrasting colors but the Esedra Domino Shelf is most intriguingly employed as a partition. When arranged parallel to a window, the divine dual-purpose divider casts complex shadows onto the floor before it. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.1/10 - Popularity: 87% | Activity: 59% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Natural-inspired Designs:** Opportunity for businesses to create products and furniture that mimic the intricate patterns and shapes found in nature. - **Modular Storage Systems:** Opportunity for companies to develop versatile, customizable storage solutions using modular cubbies. - **Dual-purpose Dividers:** Opportunity for businesses to design furniture that acts as both a functional divider and a visually striking sculpture. ### Who This Affects Most - **Furniture Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity to create unique, nature-inspired furniture pieces. - **Home Decor:** Disruptive innovation opportunity to develop modular storage solutions that add style and functionality to homes. - **Interior Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity to create innovative dividers that combine aesthetics and functionality in interior spaces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Abstract Jigsaw-Like Shelving](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spectator-shelf.md) - [Modular Configuration Shelving Units](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/repisa-01.md) - [Sculptural Bookshelves Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sculptural-bookshelf.md) - [Nature-Inspired Mesmerizing Sideboards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/genipadu-sideboard.md) - [Dynamic Storage-Display Shelves](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shelf-life.md) - [Modular Contemporary Shelving Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/qurv.md) - [Customizable Style-Conscious Shelving](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ledoux-modular-shelf-system.md) - [L-Shaped Stacked Shelving](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/loft-shelf.md) - [Dynamic Architecturally Strong Bookshelves](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dogma.md)
