Yet there is something decidedly not ernest about a few of its features. First of all, the Ernest Desk boasts a [hidden compartment](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/track-concept) that can hold a number of objects from paper and pencils to computers and other tech hardware. Secondly, it designed with a long, thin recess along the back of the legs for wires to run down them unobtrusively. Designed by Borja Garcia Studio, a design firm based in Valencia, Spain, in collaboration with María Kim, the Ernest Desk was created for Puntmobles. [Made entirely out of wood](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/model-36), it has a simple design that would complement just about any existing decor. In a way, it is a traditional piece of furniture tweaked to respond to 21st century needs. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.7/10 - Popularity: 79% | Activity: 55% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Hidden Compartment Furniture:** Opportunity to innovate by incorporating hidden compartments in various types of furniture for practicality and aesthetic purposes. - **Wire Management Design:** Opportunity to innovate wire management solutions for furniture design that offers practicality and unobtrusiveness. - **Minimalistic Workstations:** Opportunity to innovate workspace equipment with minimalistic design to suit modern and simplistic tastes. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Manufacturing companies can explore incorporating hidden compartment and wire management design in their product lines to appeal to modern customers. - **Office Supplies and Equipment:** Companies in this industry can adapt their office equipment to the growing trend of minimalistic workstations to match the need for simple and practical office environments. - **Interior Design Services:** Opportunity exists for interior design industry to provide trendy and minimalist layout designs that can accommodate workstations with hidden compartments and wire management solutions. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Ultra-Minimalist Elegant Desk Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/elegant-desk-design.md) - [Sleek Storage-Packed Workstations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/threesix-desk.md) - [Minimalist Storage-Friendly Desks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-bold-desk.md) - [Ergonomic Multi-Use Desk Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kabinett-desk.md) - [Minimalist Storage-Paired Workstations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/diag-desk.md) - [Pocket Storage-Equipped Workstations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pocket-desk.md) - [Minimalist Modular Desk Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/console-desk.md) - [Minimalist Demure Designer Desks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/backup-desk.md) - [Charming Timber Workstation Desks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/adudu-desk.md)
